Nashville General Hospital is hiring a Full Time Director of Quality/Patient Safety for Quality Assurance in Nashville, Tennessee.   

Shift: Day Shift 

This Director of Quality/Patient Safety is primarily responsible for implementing, maintaining, and continuously evaluating a comprehensive Quality and Patient Safety program which oversees care delivery performance and outcomes, inclusive of data analysis and opportunity identification. The director is the primary point of contact of the patient safety program and serves as the Patient Safety Officer. This position is responsible for identifying trends, collaborating with, and recommending improvements to various hospital units. Serves as the primary liaison with the Joint Commission, updating, monitoring, and sharing information impacting the organization’s compliance with Joint Commission standards. Addresses clinical risk management concerns and investigation of incident reports, and other issues as requested by management. Assists Medical Staff Services through peer review program and OPPE support. Directs an integrated quality management program that includes components of Regulatory Readiness, Infection Prevention, Lean Six Sigma, Risk Management, Patient Experience, and Pt Safety.  

Director of Quality/Patient Safety Roles & Responsibilities:  

  • Experience and knowledge of total quality management principles, performance improvement techniques and principles of improvement science, patient and associate safety methodologies. 
  • High degree of knowledge and practice in Lean Six Sigma, Project Management, and Change Management.
  • Capable as an events investigator (RCA) and risk analyst (FMEA).
  • Utilization of robust clinical data analysis methods, ability to transfer and implement HRO principles, characteristics, behaviors and tools across the organization.
  • Providing support and guidance to aspects of the medical staff peer review and OPPE process. Fundamental understanding of Infection Prevention and contamination control principles and practices, knowledge of and practical application of regulatory requirements is required.

Required Skills & Qualifications:  

  • Bachelor level of education in a clinical or technical field, engineering, human factors, safety, quality, or business, Master’s preferred.
  • Two of the following certifications (or equivalent) CPHQ, CPSO, CQMS, CLSSB at the time hire or obtained within 12 months of hired date (Candidates with a nursing or other clinical license will be given special consideration)
  •  A minimum of (3) years of experience in the role of Director, Senior Director, or comparable, at an acute care hospital, preferably at an “Essential Hospital” or hospital operating in a similar capacity.
  • A minimum of (3) years of direct experience in the design, development and implementation of Quality/Incident Management/Lean/Patient Safety/Patient Experience/HRO.
  • Active RN Licensure required.
  • Knowledgeable of Joint Commission, CMS, CDC, and Leapfrog standards and demonstrated proficiency navigating the assessment and survey processes to achieve desirable and sustainable outcomes.
  • Strong practitioner of LSS, Quality Management System, assessment and analysis, risk and error reduction, human factors, etc. tools and techniques.
  • Must be able to link and make relevant care/services outcomes to patient satisfaction, financial, and other NGH goals.
