OUTSIDE SALES ENGINEER – CENTRAL PA
 
Due to our product offering in Central PA expanding significantly we have an exciting new opportunity for an Outside Sales Engineer at Centergy. This candidate will play a vital role in the growth of our market presence in the Central PA area through business cultivation and sales generation. Our Outside Sales Engineer role is a unique opportunity for someone who has significant market experience and existing relationships, ideally in the industrial segment. What you’ll do
The Outside Sales Engineer will be responsible for driving new business and maintaining existing client relationships within Central PA. This role requires a combination of technical expertise and sales acumen to understand client needs, provide tailored solutions, and achieve sales targets. Main responsibilities include: 
  • Business Development: Identify and pursue new sales opportunities in Central Pennsylvania. Develop and maintain a robust pipeline of potential clients.
  • Client Relationship Management: Build and sustain strong relationships with existing clients. Understand their needs, offer solutions, and ensure high levels of customer satisfaction.
  • Technical Expertise: Present and demonstrate our products and services, addressing technical questions and providing solutions that meet clients' specific needs.
  • Sales Strategy: Develop and execute sales strategies to meet and exceed sales targets. Collaborate with the sales team to align strategies with company goals.
  • Market Analysis: Monitor market trends, competitor activities, and customer feedback to inform sales strategies and identify opportunities for growth.
  • Proposal Development: Prepare and present detailed proposals and quotations. Negotiate terms and close sales agreements.
  • Reporting: Maintain accurate records of sales activities, client interactions, and pipeline status. Provide regular updates and reports to management.
Work with Consulting Engineers. This includes but is not limited to:
  • Maintain, update, and educate on factory catalogues, software, and product developments
  • Regularly schedule educational seminars that introduce factory products or information
  • Travel with factory employees when visiting. This includes setting-up meetings, seminars, etc. prior to visits
  • Generate “Budget & Pre-Submittals" for any equipment selections required
  • Increase market penetration/basis of design
Work with Contractors. This includes but is not limited to:
  • Regularly visiting customer base to ensure relationship development
  • “Take Off" projects that are not handled by estimating department
  • Quote any “Design/Build" projects
  • Follow-Up on all quotes
  • Finalize “Buy Numbers" and negotiate project quotes. This will include obtaining special pricing approval from the factories and review of estimate
  • Generate submittals and any re-submittal required for approval
  • Attend project review/coordination meetings
  • Coordinate and resolve any project related issues (Delivery, Warranty, Service, Returns, Etc.)
  • Provide owner training
Work with Inside-Sales person to ensure that all equipment on a project is ordered properly. This includes but is not limited to:
  • Communication of cost and sell pricing
  • Review of approved submittals to ensure that equipment and options are understood
  • Assist and review project Close-Out is accurate
  • Provide guidance to estimating department on equipment selections and market pricing
  • Work closely with manufacturers to resolve application specific issues
  • Attend and become involved in industry related organizations (ASHRAE, ASPE). Regular attendance at a minimum of one organization is expected
  • Remain knowledgeable on products and technologies which Centergy represents
What you need to thrive in this role
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, or a related field (or equivalent experience) 
  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in outside sales within the Central PA / Northern PA area, preferably in Commercial/Industrial HVAC Equipment sales. Proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets
  • Technical Skills: Strong understanding of commercial/industrial boilers, water heaters and venting systems. Ability to convey complex technical information to non-technical clients
  • Sales Skills: Excellent sales and negotiation skills. Ability to build and maintain relationships with clients
  • Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to present technical information clearly and effectively
  • Self-Motivation: Ability to work independently and manage time effectively. Highly motivated with a results-driven approach
  • Travel: Willingness to travel within Central Pennsylvania as required
