Technical Sales Consultant - CT/RI

Sales Allentown, Pennsylvania

Description

You know the industry. You know the territory. Now it's time to do something you actually love going to work for.
If you've spent years in the field as a surveyor, survey technician, or GIS professional and you've got a knack for building relationships and explaining complex tools to people who need them — this role was built for you.
Keystone Precision Solutions (KPS) is hiring a Sales Consultant to own and grow our customer base across Connecticut and Rhode Island. You'll be out in the field, meeting clients where they work, understanding their challenges, and showing them how KPS solutions — including the industry's best Trimble instruments and geospatial software — can genuinely make their work better and their businesses more profitable.
This isn't a "smile and dial" inside sales job. It's a high-visibility, relationship-first role where your technical credibility opens doors that cold calls never could.
About Keystone Precision Solutions
For over 37 years, KPS has been the go-to partner for survey, construction, and engineering professionals across the Northeastern United States. We're an authorized Trimble dealer and solutions provider — which means we're not just selling equipment, we're helping teams work smarter, faster, and more precisely. Our reputation is built on deep expertise, real relationships, and the fact that our customers know they can count on us.
What You'll Be Doing
Your days won't look the same twice, and that's part of what makes this role exciting. In a typical week, you might be:
  • Growing your pipeline: prospecting new accounts through networking, referrals, and your own industry knowledge within the CT/RI survey, engineering, and construction markets.
  • Getting hands-on: conducting live demonstrations of Trimble instruments and geospatial software directly on client sites — not from a brochure, but from real experience.
  • Owning the sales cycle: from first conversation to closed deal. Generating quotes, negotiating terms, and tracking everything carefully.
  • Being the face of KPS in your region: showing up consistently, following up reliably, and building the kind of trust that turns one-time customers into long-term partners.
  • Supporting your customers post-sale: first-level technical support, problem-solving, and connecting them with the right internal resources when needed.
  • Staying sharp: Trimble and manufacturer training programs keep you at the front of the industry — and KPS invests in making sure you have what you need to succeed.
What We're Looking For
We're not just hiring a salesperson — we're looking for someone who can earn the respect of professionals who take precision seriously. Here's what will set you apart:
Industry experience: You've worked as a surveyor, survey technician (field or office), or GIS professional. This isn't required to apply, but it's what makes someone truly great in this role.
A proven sales track record: You're not afraid of the full cycle — prospecting, pipeline management, and closing deals. You measure yourself against your numbers and you like winning.
Communication skills that connect: You can explain technical concepts clearly to any audience, and you make clients feel heard and well taken care of.
Tech-savvy: You're comfortable with CRM tools (Salesforce or Sage CRM experience is a plus) and standard tools like MS Office and Teams.
Self-motivated and organized: You manage your own schedule, own your territory, and don't need someone looking over your shoulder.
Road warrior mentality: This role requires 60%+ travel throughout Connecticut and Rhode Island. If that sounds like a perk rather than a downside, you're our kind of person.
Why People Love Working at KPS
  • Base salary of $65,000–$75,000, depending on your sales experience, survey background, and Trimble acumen — so your expertise is reflected from day one.
  • Year 1 additional total annual earnings potential of $15,000–$20,000 paid out in quarterly bonuses. You'll be building toward that from the start, not waiting for a ramp period that never ends.
  • Company vehicle, laptop, and company credit card — everything you need to work the territory without coming out of pocket.
  • Comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, and 401(k)
  • PTO including vacation, personal days, and community service days
  • Ongoing Trimble and manufacturer training to keep your skills sharp and your value high
  • Real autonomy — you own your territory and your results
