Accounts Payable Specialist

About the role
The Accounts Payable Specialist will provide administrative support to the finance operations team in the areas of accounts payable entry, review, periodic check runs, and vendor management.   
This role reports to the Accounts Payable Manager and is a hybrid remote role, offering a flexible work arrangement out of our Vienna, VA office.  
 
You Will 
  • Review/Resolve invoices for appropriate supporting documentation, account coding, and approval prior to processing and accurately entering data into the system 
  • Review and reconcile vendor statements proactively communicating any payment term, invoice, credit memo or payment discrepancies with the vendor  
  • Perform Vendor Master File Maintenance in a timely and accurate manner  
  • Actively participate in the periodic check run process   
  • Verify employee expenses and prepare expense reimbursement checks   
  • Assist in monthly/year end close process including 1099’s  
  • Participate in the external audit procedures as necessary  
  • Daily management and distribution of accounting email mailbox  
  • Support new retail location opening/acquisition by ensuring that utilities are transferred as appropriate 
  • Suggest process and automation improvements.  Adapt to new procedures as business processes mature  
About You 
  • AA/AS in Business/Accounting/Finance or related field, or the equivalent combination of education, training and experience   
  • 2-4 years of related experience with accounts payable data entry, with high speed and accuracy
