About the role
As a Merchandising and Planning Intern, you will work closely with the merchandising and planning teams to support various aspects of product management, inventory planning, and retail analysis. This internship provides a hands-on opportunity to gain valuable experience in the retail industry, understand consumer behavior, and contribute to the success of our merchandising strategies.
 
Reporting to the Manager of Assortment Planning, this is a hybrid role with a flexible work arrangement out of our Vienna, VA office.
You will
  • Support inventory planning by analyzing sales data and monitoring inventory levels to ensure optimal inventory levels
  • Compile and analyze sales data, inventory reports, and other relevant metrics to identify opportunities for improvement and inform decision-making
  • Utilize and elaborate on established standard operating procedures for the movement of office products
  • Tracking compliance for product movement and allocation efforts and communicating progress with Internal Operations
  • Assist in conducting area research and interpreting survey data to create recommendations for integration office assortments
  • Maintain accurate records, prepare reports, and present findings to the planning, visual merchandising, and internal operations teams
About you
  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's degree program in Business Analytics, Merchandising, Retail Management, Supply Chain/Operations Management or a related field
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and draw meaningful insights
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other relevant software applications for data analysis and reporting
  • Passion for retail, consumer trends, and merchandising strategies
  • Capacity to adjust direction when needed and willingness to learn new skills
  • Previous internship or work experience in optical, retail, merchandising, or planning is a plus
