About the role
The Financial Systems and Optimization Manager is responsible for overseeing the architecture, maintenance, and support of our financial systems. This role involves ensuring the robust performance and integrity of our financial systems, as well as managing and optimizing system infrastructure to align with organizational goals. The ideal candidate will lead financial system projects from conception through execution, develop a strategic roadmap for system enhancements, and enforce policies to maintain compliance with regulatory requirements.
In addition to technical expertise, the Manager of Financial Systems will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to identify system needs and implement improvements. This role requires strong project management skills, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Reporting to the Director of Financial Systems & Integration, this is a remote/hybrid role with a flexible work arrangement out of our Vienna, VA or Raleigh, NC offices.
You Will
- Oversee financial system functionality related to the Accounting and Finance Teams
- Troubleshoot and assist team members in troubleshooting production issues through discussion with end users and technical resources, including problem recognition, research isolation and resolution steps
- Manage projects and the system development life cycle; review, clarify, and/or test deliverables; work with internal stakeholders to define requirements, conduct needs analysis, determine project specifications, identify solutions, and implement recommendations
- Support the develop, design, and maintenance of a holistic and long-term architectural strategy for our financial applications ecosystem in relation to providing friction simplification to business processes at MyEyeDr
- develop training programs for staff and departments in areas such as accounting and systems procedures
- Collaborate closely with internal customers across Accounting, FP&A and IT to define and build technical solutions that meet business goals and align with key mandates including compliance with internal controls
- Assist with development of departmental policies and systems guidelines; and ensure that financial management information systems are compatible with accounting guidelines.
About You
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- 7 + years of experience in accounting
- 3+ years of experience in information systems a plus
- 1+ years of project management experience a plus
- Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written, problem solving and complex business case analysis skills that lead to timely actions and/or recommendations.
- Skilled in the use of Microsoft office software to include Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Strong interpersonal, relationship management and influencing capabilities
- Strong project management skills
- Detail-oriented and able to coordinate/manage multiple tasks simultaneously
- Capable of challenging status quo and being a change agent
- Strategic thinking and tactical execution skills
- Self-driven with an adaptive leadership style and a passion for financial systems
- Exceptional problem solving/issue resolution skills
