About the role
As our Sr. Manager, Architecture & Design, you will be a critical player contributing to the success of our organization’s growth.  You will be responsible for overseeing the design and permitting of new facilities, as well as remodels, expansions, and relocations of existing or acquired facilities.  In this role, you will be a cross functional player with our Real Estate, Construction, Operations, IT, Merchandising & Marketing, and Facilities teams and be supporting a company whose mission is to be the leading player in helping patients live their best lives through Optical Healthcare.  You will report to the Director of Construction & Facilities. 

This is a hybrid remote role, offering a flexible work arrangement out of either our Raleigh, NC or Vienna, VA offices.

 

You Will

  • Responsible for performing, coordinating, and/or managing design activities during pre-lease and design phases for national expansion
  • Manage third party consultants (architect, sign vendor, etc.) during design, entitlement, and due diligence phase as well as working with real estate to provide space assessments during the real estate process
  • Develop standards and specifications, including leading value engineering efforts to reduce overall project costs
  • Drive cost effective solutions through cross-functional and external partnership to remodel/retrofit existing facilities to support capacity expansion within high-performing locations
  • Produce store design standards documents (including floor plans/layouts, exterior elevations, etc.), presentations, and design details
  • Review construction documents, shop drawings and answer RFI’s to ensure execution of the design intent
  • Drive internal meetings with cross-functional partners to gain alignment for final design approval
  • Manage Design Consultants’ project contracts, scope of work, and schedules. Review and ensure consultant deliverables are in accordance with design and brand standards.  Identify the best partners to scale MyEyeDr.’s growth efficiently and effectively.
  • Lead design activities by various vendors during the design phase, including architect, MEP engineer, internal/external signage vendor(s), millwork fabricator, etc.
  • Partner with Construction team to resolve on-site issues, provide sketches and responses as necessary to Contractor RFI’s.
  • Collaborate with internal partners to evaluate and enhance brand recognition and design standards.

About You

  • 6+ years of post-collegiate experience designing hospitality / retail / restaurant projects.
  • Bachelor’s degree in architecture or interior design degree strongly preferred or equivalent work experience required.
  • Up to 40% of travel may be required.
  • Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, and Adobe Creative Suite proficient.
  • Rendering, 3D modeling, and hand sketching skills a plus.
  • Highly organized and ability to manage multiple projects with excellent presentation skills to senior key stakeholders.
