ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
High school diploma or GED
Valid Michigan driver’s license
Healthcare Mechanic
Proven mechanical work experience or vocational course (i.e., drafting, machine shop, auto 
repair, construction, electrical/electronic).
MECH Senior Certification successful completion required within four years.
Physical requirements: must be able to list medium loads (25-50 pounds), climb, stoop, 
kneel, crouch and/or crawl occasionally (0-33% of the workday); and must be able to walk 
and handle materials frequently (34-66% of the workday).
Power Plant Operator
Minimum 1 year experience in the operation, inspection preparation and preventive 
maintenance of high pressure boilers, controls, feed water systems and steam specialties 
required,
Experience with 125 psig steam, water cooled chillers and water tube natural gas-fired 
boilers desired.
Third-Class Stationary Engineer registration (State of Michigan) to be completed within three 
years.
Physical requirements: must be able to lift medium loads (25-50 pounds), climb ladders and 
crawl occasionally (0-33% of the workday); step-climb frequently (34-66% of the workday); 
and must have average vision and good hearing ability.
ORGANIZATION
Healthcare Mechanic
Reports to the Manager of Facilities Maintenance; receives direction from other 
Maintenance personnel.
Power Plant Operator
Reports to the Manager of Facilities Maintenance; receives daily assignments from the Chief 
Plant Operator.

Healthcare Mechanic:
1. Periodically degreases floors and equipment.
2. Replaces burned-out lighting equipment and lamps.
3. Makes simple plumbing repairs.
4. Installs small pieces of equipment (e.g., towel dispensers, curtain rods, soap 
dispensers).
5. Performs preventive maintenance tasks as directed (e.g., electrical safety readings, 
filter checks, equipment lubrication).
6. Cleans and maintains work areas in a neat, orderly and safe condition.
7. Prepares and submits reports and records of activities as required.
8. Demonstrates basic computer literacy skills.
9. Inspects steam valves and traps for proper operation.
10.Operates BAS (building automation system) a computerized facilities utility system.
11.Performs other duties as assigne
