GENERAL SUMMARY:
Munson Healthcare’s Neurosciences team has an excellent opportunity for an Advanced Practice Provider (APP) to join our Neurovascular/Stroke team. Munson Medical Center (MMC), located in Traverse City, Michigan, along with several other smaller spoke affiliates, care for complex neurovascular patients throughout the area via advanced triage software (Viz Ai).
MMC is currently a Comprehensive Stroke Center with an Open Endovascular Stroke Interventional Neurosurgery team. The stroke APP will join a collaborative team of multiple physicians and several APPs overseeing the care for our inpatient and outpatient stroke population. In this role, the APP will leverage knowledge of neurological examination, testing and imaging, acute stroke treatment plans, and neurovascular intervention to care for a diverse patient population and full range of hemorrhagic and ischemic stroke disorders. ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Works as a self-directed professional with the ability to make independent decisions in providing direct patient care.
- Utilize strong communication skills and be able to work in a fast-paced, complex work environment of acute stroke care and triage.
- Demonstrate electronic medical record skills and willingness to learn necessary health IT applications to promote maximum clinical efficiency as well as use of stroke triage software Viz Ai.
- Completes appropriate documentation of all evaluations, care and services rendered in the electronic medical record.
- Observes the Munson Healthcare Advance Practice Provider prescriptive authority guidelines.
- Maintains knowledge of current medical trends in ongoing professional development in pertinent medical fields.
- The position is a rotation/mixed role of inpatient and outpatient
- Daily rounds on inpatient neurovascular consult service, render appropriate services and documentation, billing.
- Round virtually at Munson community hospitals for select neurovascular patients who are not transferred to Munson Medical Center.
- Perform outpatient neurovascular clinic care.
- Triage acute stroke patients and be familiar with emergent management and ENLS care.
- Take part in community education related to stroke prevention.
- Potential involvement in telestroke care is possible in the future.
STANDARD QUALIFICATIONS
Education / Training:
- Master's Degree in Nursing OR a Master’s in Physician Assistant Studies
Work Experience:
- Experience in Stroke or related field preferred but not required.
Certification, Licensure, Registration:
- State of Michigan Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant license required.
- BLS certification required.
- ENLS certificate will be required and can be obtained after hire.
