This role oversees the daily operation of the assigned regional laboratories in Gaylord, Grayling and Charlevoix. Assumes a leadership role as mentor and role mode to staff for technical advice and actively participates in problem solving and conflict resolution. Uses sound clinical judgement and critical thinking skills to develop and execute goals and objectives based on the Munson Healthcare strategic plan 

What’s Required:

•    Bachelor’s degree in Clinical Laboratory Science (Medical Technology or Medical Laboratory Science) or a bachelor’s degree in a healthcare or science field related to the clinical laboratory. 
•    Registered by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists
•    Minimum 5 years prior work experience in related clinical laboratory section(s) required.
•    One year in a supervisory role or management experience desired.
 
Candidates with an associate degree in a healthcare or science field, 10 years of laboratory services 
experience, and one year of supervisory/coordinator experience may be considered but will need to obtain a bachelor’s degree and ASCP registration within 3 years of hire. 
 
Duties include:

This role will be accountable for integration of patient specimen collection and clinical laboratory with the Region. 
•    Prepares the annual operating and capital budgets for the regional laboratories served. 
•    Monitors and manages productivity, resource utilization, reporting and responding to variances from approved budgets. 
•    Supports regional performance improvement efforts and initiatives. Monitors department customer satisfaction. Develops implements and monitors plans to exceed customer expectations. 
Oversees the clinical and operational functions of the MHC Laboratories in the region.  
•    Maintains knowledge of current trends and developments in the field.
•    Implements and recommends new procedures or test offerings to remain currently with technology advances and service expansion. 
•    Maintains laboratory accreditation and implements changes to regulatory and accreditation requirements in a timely manner.
