National Sales Director
Description
The MULTIVAC National Sales Director provides executive leadership and sets the strategic direction for capital equipment sales within the food industry. Leading a team of Regional Sales Directors and collaborating closely with cross-functional internal and external partners, this role develops and implements systems, processes, procedures, and strategic business plans aligned with organizational goals to ensure sales targets are consistently achieved.
The National Sales Director also oversees the creation and execution of hiring and training strategies designed to support long-term customer satisfaction and build a high-performing, focused sales organization.
This position requires travel 2–3 weeks per month, with the remaining time spent in the Kansas City, MO office. Occasional weekend and international travel are also required.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop and execute strategic sales plans and forecasts to achieve corporate objectives; contribute to the establishment of organizational goals.
- Direct sales forecasting and planning activities and establish corresponding performance goals.
- Monitor and analyze sales performance metrics; adjust strategies and priorities as needed.
- Develop and manage annual sales operating budgets.
- Monitor and report on competitor products, sales trends, and marketing initiatives.
- Recommend product positioning and pricing strategies to support market share growth.
- Maintain close alignment with the parent company to stay informed on new product launches and ensure the sales team is prepared to promote and sell new offerings.
- Collaborate with Marketing to conduct and evaluate market research, adjusting strategies to meet evolving market and competitive conditions.
- Participate in planning and executing trade shows and industry events.
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with industry influencers and key strategic partners.
- Develop strategies for bundling sales, service, parts, training, and systems to support broader business growth.
- Oversee the defining, strengthening, and continuous improvement of roles, goals, and responsibilities within the Sales organization. Ensure associates receive appropriate training and possess the skills required to meet performance expectations. Regularly assess and review team and individual goals.
- Prepare and deliver executive-level monthly, quarterly, and annual sales reports, including sales volume analysis, potential growth opportunities, client base expansion, and forecasts.
Key Qualifications
Ideal candidates will hold a bachelor’s degree in sales, business management, marketing, or business technology management, and bring 10+ years of sales and leadership experience involving capital equipment used in food portioning, processing, or packaging.
This position requires exceptional verbal and written communication skills to effectively motivate and develop staff and engage with customers. Candidates must be able to read, analyze, and interpret financial reports, technical journals, and legal documents. The role also requires the ability to respond to inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, and business partners, and to deliver presentations to diverse audiences, including executive leadership.
Candidates should be proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and have working knowledge of ERP systems and CRM applications; SAP experience is preferred.
A valid driver’s license and eligibility to obtain a passport are required for travel.
