Parts Procurement Specialist

Description

Summary:  Successfully manage day to day spare parts inventory procurement functions to support targeted goals for inventory availability to support customer requirements and company investments to stock inventory.  Maintain system integrity and accuracy of purchase order delivery dates from assigned suppliers.  Communicate with all internal customers (Sales, Product Management, Production Planning, Receiving, etc.) and assigned suppliers to effectively support inventory availability and investment.  Collaborate with Supply Planning, Strategic Sourcing, Analytics, Customer Service, and other internal functional teams to ensure alignment of business operations.
 
Time Utilization:  This position may travel up to 10%.  Normal business hours are 8:00am to 5:00pm.  Schedule needs to be flexible to accommodate internal and external customer schedules. Ability to work outside normal working hours. 
 
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following.  Other duties may be assigned:
 
  • Perform daily direct purchasing activities by preparing, releasing, monitoring, and communicating purchase orders to suppliers in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Make smart, data-based business decisions on order quantities and shipment methods with focus on material availability, inventory investments, and additional related costs.
  • Maintain accuracy and validity of projected arrival dates in SAP for material from assigned suppliers.
  • Resolve delivery and supply issues with suppliers including late shipments, required express shipments, unexpected requirements, quantity discrepancy issues, etc. 
  • Resolve cost variance issues between purchase order values and supplier invoiced values.
  • Identify process improvement opportunities in the Procurement environment and work with necessary internal teams to implement improvements.
  • Maintain, track, and report departmental performance metrics as assigned.
  • Perform other duties for the betterment of MULTIVAC as assigned.

Education/Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in business, procurement, supply chain management, or related discipline and three years planning or procurement experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.  Experience in distribution or production environment and SAP experience preferred.
