Summary: The success of this individual will be measured through the safe and timely unloading, moving, placement and shipping of capital equipment. This will require knowledge and application of machine rigging through the use of fork trucks, straps, bands, chains, dollies and other weight handling gear to move and position heavy loads. Carpentry skills will also be demonstrated through supporting, blocking, framing and custom crating of equipment using a variety of power and hand tools. Performing weight and dimensional calculations is required as well as the ability to convert between US and Metric formats. Other responsibilities include maintaining the accurate and orderly inventory of our machinery and related components, coordination and follow through of all material movements from the warehouse through our manufacturing process, and keeping the warehouse storage and staging areas clean and organized.

Time Utilization: Normal business hours are 8:00am to 5:00pm Monday thru Friday. During peak seasons overtime or Saturday work may be required. Schedule needs to be flexible to accommodate our internal and external customer needs. This position will require no travel.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned:

  • Uncrate and facilitate placement of machines into our Manufacturing Center, Demonstration Room, Training Room, etc. taking into account other committed activities in the warehouse as well as Inventory Movement Form requests. Transport equipment and accessories as required adhering to the published schedule
  • Crate, skid, package and document outbound shipments of machines and accessories. This includes applying carpentry and machinery rigging skills requiring the use of saws, drills, cutting torches, slings, hoists, banding machines, etc. Ensure items are crated properly for safe travel to ultimate destination minimizing occurrence of damage or loss.
  • Arrange shipping and delivery of equipment through trucking companies (3PL provider) taking into account customer’s expectations, tradeshow requirements, and shipping requirements. Perform internal audit of machines and equipment to ensure shipment is complete according to documentation received.
  • Consistently pull and post inventory according to picking documents. Confirm proper quantities, product identification, serial numbers and batch numbers. Research and report inventory discrepancies to the Shipping/Receiving Supervisor so corrections can be made.
  • Set up locations in SAP for new stock and ensure materials are tagged and identified properly. If stock is moved make sure location changes are registered in SAP immediately. Execute the cycle counting and recounting process as assigned.
  • Ensure equipment is consumed to the appropriate project before the items are moved from the warehouse to production or staging areas. Properly notate project documentation and post on production board in the warehouse office.
  • Make sure Inventory Movement Request Forms and Robbed Item Forms are filled out and a copy is attached to the equipment or box for proper identification. Keep the Inventory Movement book up to date in order to facilitate tracking of equipment internally.
  • Begin every day with the warehouse in “Show Shape” with floors, carts, tables, supplies and equipment clean and orderly as approved by the Shipping & Receiving Supervisor.

Education/Experience:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and two years warehouse/material related experience. Requires previous experience in handling of capital equipment with fork trucks, rollers, ropes, chains and other weight handling gear to lift, move and position heavy loads. Carpentry, crating and power tool proficiency needed to block equipment, build and repair crates, pallets and framing. Knowledge of mechanical, electrical and pneumatic systems is helpful. Ability to operate a counter balance forklift, pallet jack, and narrow aisle reach truck.

Language Ability:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

Math Ability:
The demonstrated ability to use tape measures, calculate square footage and define geometric angles. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Determine safe lift point for irregular loads.

Reasoning Ability:
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and Inventory software. Experience with SAP or another ERP system preferred.

Certificates and Licenses:
Must be eligible for forklift certification.

Physical Demands:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an associate to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The position requires agility in frequent moves on and off the fork lift. It requires agility in moving in between shelves and storage boxes. It requires agility in moving frequently from the upright to prone position during the crating and rigging processes. Ability to handle sharp objects in a safe method and with proper personal protective equipment.

The associate must regularly lift and /or move up to 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this job, the associate is regularly required to stand; walk and talk or hear. The associate is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The associate is occasionally required to climb or balance. The associate is occasionally required to sit.
