Summary: 
To provide solutions to customer packaging automation needs/demands and extend our sales to existing and new customers.  Support technical operations in providing solutions to customer automation needs, involving MULTIVAC Automations Group and third - party suppliers, when necessary, to complement MULTIVAC’s packaging capabilities, while helping to avoid taking on unacceptable commercial risk. Provide guidance for automation project management services to customers wishing to outsource such efforts. Train and provide guidance to the sales team for the qualifying of Systems & Automation business opportunities.
 
Time Utilization:  This position will travel up to 75%.  Normal business hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.  Schedule needs to be flexible to accommodate customer, show and event schedules.
 
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following.  Other duties may be assigned:
 
  • Facilitate the sale of MULTIVAC robotic systems and packaging products to both food and non-food industries by researching, developing and qualifying MULTIVAC Automations Group offerings and a network of third-party automation suppliers with whom MULTIVAC can partner to provide solutions to customer packaging automation needs. Examples are auto-loading, auto-packoff, vision in the loading area, package inspection, on-line printing, web tracking, etc.
 
  • Collaborate with Sales, Engineering, MULTIVAC Germany, third party suppliers, and Project Managers to obtain acceptance and payments for automated lines and equipment, managing customer’s expectations.

  • Train and develop tools to assist Regional Sales Managers and Sales Directors to qualify and sell robotic systems and custom automation modules to complement the sale of packaging machines.

  • In collaboration with Regional Sales Managers, MULTIVAC USA Engineering, MULTIVAC Germany Automation Group, and third-party suppliers, configure, propose, and sell automation systems to strategically selective projects of low risk and potential high reward.
 
  • Collaborate with Sales, Customer Service, Sales Administration, and MULTIVAC Germany to maximize value to customers, minimize project risks, and provide additional revenue to MULTIVAC USA.

  • Establish strategic relationships with third party suppliers to complement MULTIVAC products and extend our line solutions.  Secure NDAs.  Negotiate purchase terms and conditions with third party suppliers to be aligned with MULTIVAC. Establish URS by project with clear performance criteria for FAT’s & SAT’s.
  • Operate within annual expense budget.
 
  • Participate in trade shows, sales meetings and other company specified activities.

  • Integrate with Engineering, Sales Administration, and MULTIVAC Germany to achieve goals not directly linked to automation-produced revenue.
 
  • Partner with management to ensure sufficient resources are estimated and allocated to each project.
 
Qualifications:

Education/Experience: 
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related technical discipline and a minimum of five years' experience creating, planning, and executing automated systems projects with conceptual development including all material handling, robotics applications, and relevant interfaces to upstream and downstream operations. 
 
Language Ability: 
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.  Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. 
 
Math Ability:
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
 
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to define problems collects data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
 
Computer Skills:  
To perform this job successfully, an individual should be proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Word, Excel, and Power Point.  Proficiency in CAD for efficient and accurate production of 2D systems layouts is mandatory. Solid Works experience is a plus.
 
Certificates and Licenses:  
Current valid driver’s license and the ability to obtain a passport for travel as required by position.
