POSITION:Supply Chain Lead
REPORTS TO:General Manager
DEPARTMENT:Purchasing
Job Summary
The Supply Chain lead shall oversee and supervise employees and all activities of the purchasing department. The lead shall be responsible for logistics and the company’s inventory. Analyse operational performance and resolve issues. Collaborate with vendors and suppliers to ensure all operations (e.g. shipping, delivery) meet quality and safety standards,
KEY RESPONSIBILITY AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
Safety
- Champion all aspects of safety within the department. Instill a sense of self responsibility for safety among employees.

Quality

- Support quality initiatives and corrective actions to drive a culture that supports our Quality Statement and helps employees learn and improve.
- Compliance with all data integrity, raw material and product safety, and all standards required.
Purchasing
- Manage import and local purchases, including liaising with freight agents and clearing agents
- Prepare local purchase budgets and send them weekly.
- Negotiate and Handle vehicle hiring charges for deliveries.
- Plan and execute local purchases based on released funds and send daily expense reports
- Ensure quality control of purchased raw materials/goods and plan deliveries to clients
- Maintain accurate stock reports, ensuring timely updates and safe loading/offloading
- Coordinate with clearing and forwarding agents for shipment statuses and arrange transportation as needed
- Receive and verify incoming raw materials and goods against invoices and packing lists
- Manage import documentation and arrange inspections with relevant authorities if required
- Following and enforcing the company's procurement policies and procedures.
- Managing inventories and maintaining accurate purchase and inventory valuation records.
- Maintaining and updating supplier information such as qualifications, delivery times, product ranges, etc.
- Maintaining good supplier relations and negotiating contracts.
- Researching and evaluating prospective suppliers.
- Preparing budgets, create and maintain relationships with vendors/suppliers
- Make professional decisions in a fast-paced environment
- Maintain purchase records and other important data
- Develop plans for purchasing services, and supplies
- Evaluating and selecting suppliers based on quality, cost and reliability.
- Responsible for Procurement of Paper and Ink from leading paper and Ink suppliers.
- Strategize and develop new vendors for different types of Papers based on location, quality, rates and lead time.
- Achieving cost savings for the company through new vendor development and value engineering in paper specifications.
- Procurement Planning based on forecast from sales team and requirements raised by Production team.
- Maintaining Critical Stock Level for all key clients based on projections.
- Ensuring allocation of share of business to multiple vendors based on price and performance.
- Ensure timely processing of documents to facilitate on time payments to vendors
- Ensure close coordination between Sales, Plant operations & Finance
- Ensure there is no production loss due to non-availability of production materials. Retention and development of team
People
- Build, develop and manage a high performing team to instill ownership of Supply Chain objectives through training and performance assessments and talent management.
- Lead the team to be capable of carrying out the short and long-term strategies of the plant.
- Manage departmental leave plans
Continuous Improvement/Cost management
- Support a culture of relentless pursuit of continuous improvement.
- Participate in CI efforts and initiative in the plant
- Utilize Lean tools inclusive of Kaizen, 5S and Gemba to drive improvements in operations.
- Drive reduction of the maintenance cost per label by negotiating prices for spares and machine consumables.
Experience/Skills Required
- Bachelor's degree and 5 years’ experience.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of work experience in a Supply Chain field
- Minimum of 1 year of work experience in a shipping, receiving, or logistics capacity as a lead.
- Lean manufacturing and Six Sigma experience preferred. Formal certification is an added advantage.
- Rational, fact-driven decision-making skills.
- High level of accuracy, strong attention to detail, and excellent interpersonal skills.
- Ability to analyze data, draw conclusions, make recommendations, and present findings.
- Exhibits a safety-first attitude in all that is done, from proper personal protection equipment compliance to keeping the work environment safe and hazard-free. Compliance with all workplace and safety standards required.
- Possess management and people skills to ensure smooth operations and communication.
- Capable of working in a team environment and alone with a high sense of urgency.
- 1 year of Supervisory work experience.
- Lean Manufacturing or Lean Supply Chain Experience
