Location: Daventry
Shift Pattern is on a weekly rotating basis with a short/early finish on Fridays
• Early: Monday to Thursday 6am – 1.45pm; Fridays – 6am to 11.30am
• Late: Monday to Thursday 1.30pm – 9.15pm; Fridays – 11.15am – 5pm
Starting Salary: £21,000

Main Purpose and Job Accountability:
The job holder is responsible for the day-to-day execution of the press changeovers.
Reporting to the SMED (Single Minute Exchange of Die) Supervisor the job holder is expected to deliver
an optimum press change service and play a key role in standardizing the ways of working (Culture).
The role requires the delivery of working practices that support the site hygiene, food safety,
environmental and safety programs.
As information is loaded into the plan, you’ll be required to deliver optimum SMED practices whilst
maintaining compliance to the site safety, environmental and quality policies at all times.
Other duties will include your input to Lean forums targeted to deliver operational excellence in the
press arena. The key target areas are yield and SMED.
Clear communication is key to success as the role requires regular dialogue with all print support
functions.
The SMED team is expected to support the delivery of the day-to-day print plan and any changes,
flexibility is paramount.
The role requires strong team-working skills and the day-to-day demonstration of the appropriate
attitudes and behaviors, encouraging the delivery of individual and team objectives
The job holder must clearly communicate the press status at all times focusing on clarity of goals and
a sense of urgency and accuracy.
The SMED team must support the “manage by facts” culture and monitor the overall press support
performance through agreed KPI’s and input into the Radius system.
Accurate information loading and analysis of Radius is key. The output data must drive structured and
controlled change which in turn will drive and focus the SMED team.
Clear communication and day to day improvement of the internal customer – supplier relationships
is paramount.
Principal Duties, Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
• Daily delivery of the SMED team’s goals in terms of press changeovers.
• Working in accordance with a safe environment and individual support for the site safety
objectives.
• Contribution to the Lean improvement forums especially in the field of SMED and Yield.
• Individual adherence to the quality systems and input into the local risk assessments.
• Day to day adherence to the site environmental objectives.
• The timely and cost-conscious delivery of the print plan and an acute awareness of the role
the SMED team plays in it.
• Reinforcement of the “one way of working” culture by strict adherence to the guides and
procedures.
• The strengthening of internal customer – supplier relationships by seeking to understand the
wider team goals. The use of SIPOC is key.
• Personal development through internal and external courses especially in the field of Lean
and Team-working.
• Support the SMED Supervisors improvement drive by reducing change-over times in an
agreed structured manner.
• Support and react to appropriate KPI’s as a team member.
