We are currently looking for a Make Ready Production Support/Press Operator Assistant to join our team. The Press Assistant role is responsible for the set up and support of printing presses in accordance with the printing specifications and customer requirements/expectations.

Responsibilities:
- Responsible for maintaining (pulling, staging, and filing) all Make Ready cover sheets.
- Prepares skids or pallets for shipping to our suppliers when instructed to do so by the graphics coordinator.
- Document all cylinder numbers and bin numbers on engraver spec sheet prior to delivering the paperwork to the Graphics Coordinator.
- Gather and deliver all packages / job jackets from the engravers to the graphics coordinator after each shipment.
- Keeping a detailed list of open cylinder and bin numbers.
- Unload and inspect incoming cylinders to ensure the engraving order and cylinder number is correct and the cylinder is defect free.
- Restamp cylinder numbers as needed.
- Put away all remakes returned to the plant in the proper bin / location.
- Scans all bin locations into computer system using scan gun and Cyl set tags.
- Operates a forklift truck (including the narrow racking lift master) or uses a hand truck to move, convey, stage or inspect cylinders as needed.
- Pull and stage the next 24 – 48 hours of work for the presses.
- Remove prior days completed jobs from the area and return to the warehouse.
- Compares cylinders going to press and being returned from Make Ready to the cover sheet.
- Ensuring all cylinders for the job are accounted for prior to delivering to Make Ready and prior to placing the cylinders back into the warehouse.
- Complete material releases.
- Inspect cylinders for large runs and campaigns are instructed to do.
- Assists in maintaining equipment for optimal operation, including adjustments. Assists with preventative maintenance.
- Ensures compliance with established facility safety policies and procedures.
- Treats all associates respectfully and professionally while maintaining company code of ethics.
- Participates in special projects and performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Print shop experience helpful, but not required
- Ability to communicate and interact well with others (verbally and written form); seen as a team player
- Ability to read and understand a job ticket
- Ability to read a ruler and understand measurements (able to pass a ruler test)
- Ability correctable to 20/20 (able to pass an eye test)
- Ability to differentiate colors (able to pass a color test)
- Ability to input data in the computer
- Ability to work in a team environment with a high sense of urgency for on-time completion of assigned activities
- Self-motivated with the ability to stay focused and follow instructions
- Ability to stand and move around press area for long periods of time
- Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.
