Assists the Shift Supervisor in achieving safety, quality, production, waste and housekeeping standards for the department.

Time allowance for lead duties when required, up to 30% of scheduled time. Must register detailed activities on their own HXH.

Responsibilities:

  • Complete a minimum of two STOP Observations per month.
  • Monitor press quality by assisting pressmen on attaining color approvals.
  • Approve color ok (keepers) so that the press can start running sheets.
  • Monitor press stops and implement measures to ensure production standards are met.  Report any equipment maintenance issues to shift supervisor and ensure repair work orders are entered.
  • Assist the pressmen with problem solving.
  • Make sure all pressmen have the right tools and supplies to do their jobs.
  • Give constant pertinent feedback to pressmen.
  • Recognize the shortfalls of press associates and recommend training needs.
  • Ensure all press associates are following approved, documented procedures.
  • Review press schedules and make recommendations on run sequence.
  • Help investigate label shortages and CPARs.
  • Verify pressmen are correctly populating H X H boards and transferring info to SQDC sheets.
  • Support and enforce all company rules, providing feedback to shift supervisor.
  • Assist with any new product trials.
  • Monitor ink pump area, enforcing proper housekeeping. Ensure drums are replaced in a timely manner.
  • Monitor chemical room, enforcing proper housekeeping. Ensure used chemicals and ink are captured properly.
  • Monitor recycling containers. Ensure replacement when full.
  • Monitor TPM sheets. Inform management of deficiencies.
  • Monitor press consumables area, enforcing proper housekeeping.
  • Ensure pressroom office housekeeping and 5S standards are met.
  • Complete any task or duty assigned by your supervisor for the benefit of MCC Label and its customers.
  • Responsible to come in 15 minutes before the shift to complete pass down activities with outgoing lead.
  • Serve as a back up to the shift supervisor in his absence and communicate with operations manager or leadership designee for escalations due to equipment malfunction or staffing.

Qualifications:

  • Experienced press operator.
  • Ability to cover any machine, front or back, if need be.
  • Good communication and people skills.
  • Troubleshooting and diagnostic abilities.
  • Problem solving skills.
  • Organized.

  • Self-motivated.
