Description

Senior Product Designer

Moz and STAT, within the Moz Group (a subsidiary of Ziff Davis, Inc., NASDAQ: ZD), specialize in SEO data and platforms. As a leading provider of marketing technology, Moz empowers individuals and businesses to increase their presence online and grow revenue by harnessing the power of web search.

Description

Moz’s UX team is looking for a Senior Product Designer to help create amazing user experiences for our suite of products, and to solve hard, yet exciting, customer problems. You will work closely with our Product and UX team to influence high-level requirements, then turn those into interactive flows and beautiful, intuitive, functional designs. As you gain knowledge of the product and industry, you will pitch new ideas and turn new, complex problems into engaging experiences.

When you aren’t actively working on a project, you are proactively improving processes within the company to make your work more efficient for the next project, or working to gain a deeper understanding of our customers, which will fuel your future decisions.

"Preference will be given to those candidates in either the Pacific Time Zone OR if in different time zone, willing to align work hours to Pacific Standard Time"

Responsibilities

We’re looking for Senior Product Designers that will:

  • Design data-heavy digital products and services that balance customer needs, business objectives, and technological constraints
  • Understand, question, and influence the value of everything they work on
  • Own the design process for their projects from start to finish - including journey mapping, information architecture, wire framing, prototyping, and user testing - all the way to the final hand-off to developers, and to owning and measuring the success of their work
  • Create their own tailored projects plans and goals, with accurate estimates and timelines
  • Contribute to, and enhance, our established pattern library in a scalable and easy to understand way
  • Perform necessary research tasks to push their designs forward
  • Work with the dev team to ensure designs are implemented accurately and provide quality assurance on their designs, once implemented.
  • Know when to use established patterns and processes, and when to break them, and can properly make and evaluate tradeoffs, weighing the pros and cons for all decisions, large and small.
  • Effectively pitch and articulate the data and thinking behind their work to their team and stakeholders
  • Collaborate with others on the team by sharing best practices, ideation techniques, and usability principles, and provide leadership and mentorship to others on the team.
  • Embrace their curiosity and feel comfortable challenging requirements, and wants to know the “why” behind everything
  • Embrace our core values: Transparent, Accountable, Generous, Fun, Empathetic, and Exceptional.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of experience designing for digital products
  • A strong portfolio that demonstrates your design skills and process, including wireframes, prototyping, research and data-collection methods used, goals, and outcomes.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in design and prototyping tools (we work in Figma)
  • Experience designing for large sets of displayed data, including data visualization
  • Proven ability to simplify heavy sets or complex data
  • Proven understanding of how people interpret data, demonstrated through your simplified designs
  • A proven process for communicating your designs, strategy and decisions to stakeholders and to the development team
  • Ability to design multi-step workflows with a focus on reducing drop-off rates.
  • Experience with standard research methods like usability testing, interviews, and data analysis (Bonus points if you know what an URQBS is)
  • Senior-level design discipline (Organization, meticulous attention to detail and edge cases, easy-to-understand files, hits their deadlines, etc…)

Nice to have

  • Understanding and experience with SEO
  • You have worked on marketing analytics software
  • Knowledge of AI-driven insights or recommendation engines.
  • You can perform basic quantitative data analysis in tools like Pendo (or something similar)
  • Passionate about research or improving your research skills
  • You have experience in consumer or B2B SaaS and understand the mechanics and economics of a SaaS business
  • Formal education or certification in UX/Product Design/Interaction Design

 Target salary 120-130 k
