Hiring Range: $20.00 - 28.85 per hour
Under the Store Manager and Produce Manager, the Assistant Produce Managers performs the following duties:
TYPICAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ensure quality customer service
- Involved in the selection and management of all personnel and all processes involved in the operation of the department
- Assist in interviews, hiring and maintaining qualified personnel in all positions reporting directly and indirectly & recommends compensation
- Identify training needs, recommends input on performance reviews, promotions, and terminations
- Keep employees informed to company/department plans and progress
- Develop additional sources of product, both direct and through distributors
- Demonstrate an increase in the number of customers purchasing product
- Meets labor, sales and margin goals determined in accordance with the Store Manager
- Daily scheduling and working within labor % allowance
- Maintain ongoing training in Produce department merchandising, rotating, cleanliness, maintenance of equipment and customer service
- Make sure expired and damaged product is removed from the shelves and entered in the log
- Establish and maintain professional and productive working relationships with all persons (wholesalers, employees), with whom you interact in managing the department
- Responsible for proper handling and distribution of all paper work in regards to the operation of the produce department (invoices, packing slips, inter-company deliveries)
- Assist in inventory preparation and Participates in inventory counts
- Follow up on customer complaints, suggestions and requests
- Maintain store standards of cleanliness, order an appearance
- Other duties as assigned
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Experience in retail produce and great customer service techniques is a must
- Supervisory experience is a plus
- Stand for long periods of time, climb ladders, squat, bend & lift/carry boxes up to 70 pounds
