TITLE: Child Care Worker (Temporary)
POSITION: Temporary
SALARY: $16.12/hr. - $17.14/hr. (Bilingual Spanish -  $17.57/hr. - $18.69/hr.)
SHIFT: 12-week temporary position (Thursdays, 5:30PM - 8:00PM)

Position Summary:

Childcare Workers provide supervision and facilitate activities with youth while care takers participate in groups. This position creates a nurturing and safe space for children, so their caregivers may participate in the group. Childcare workers are responsible for performing childcare duties and some general administrative tasks.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintains direct sight and sound supervision of children. Monitors youth behavior and provides support, participates in set-up and clean-up of group, greets and assists families as they arrive, maintains a well-organized and safe area.
  • Actively engages with youth while maintaining professional boundaries and confidentiality.
  • Communicates any concerning behaviors, unsafe conditions and other important information to facilitators, designated staff or direct supervisor.
  • May also perform administration functions including filing, photocopying, scanning, data entry, record keeping, operating multi-lined phones, greeting visitors and answering questions.
  •  Models safe language and demonstrates appropriate boundaries with peers and clients. Intervenes and provides support when staff, clients or families are unsafe with language or behaviors.
  • Manages emotions and feelings in an appropriate and professional manner. Asks for help when needed.
  • Values and respects the ideas of the team. Teaches and models skills related to responsibility and accountability. Is accountable for all aspects of the position and practices good judgment. Appropriately and effectively responds to challenging incidents; use of red flag meetings, incident debriefing etc.
  • Is present and punctual for work and/or meetings. Works well within a team environment, sharing credit and opportunities. Assists in managing the balance of work load for team members.
  • Shares decision making whenever possible. Uses a collaborative approach to problem solving.
  • Presents ideas effectively and clearly conveys thoughts. Values shared ideas and is open/receptive to feedback. Shares necessary and important information with supervisor/supervisees. Listens to others and communicates in a healthy, effective and respectful way.
  • Performs other related duties as required and assigned.

 Experience/Education Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with children
  • We consider education, training, experience and demonstrated skills.

Other Requirements:

  • Must pass a DHS criminal history background
  • Works during regular clinic hours (Monday through Friday 8am – 8pm); schedule is created with assigned supervisor
  • May travel and perform duties at different agency locations with possible meetings/presentations at other Morrison worksites and/or in the community
  • Pass and maintain CPR and Standard First Aid Certification within 30 days of hire
  • Language testing if applicable
