Location: London / Holkham, North Norfolk / Hybrid

Reporting To: Head of Sustainability

As part of the New Product Development (NPD) team, the Sustainability Manager is an exciting opportunity to join our fast paced, energetic business, to help us continue with our ambitious development and growth plans, and with our mission to accelerate sustainable change across the jewellery industry. 

 

This role, reporting into the Head of Sustainability, will be the voice of sustainability in our business, keeping updated on industry trends and standards, overseeing our sustainability partnerships and leading the execution of our sustainability roadmap. You will work across the business to deliver against KPIs and oversee our policies and practices to ensure that the sustainability perspective is embedded in all that we do. This will be done with pace and with excellence.

 

This is a role based between London Head Office (2-3 days per week) and remote working, with regular travel to our Holkham Head Office.

What you’ll do

The Sustainability Manager will work collaboratively across MV to implement our strategy on environmental & social responsibility with the overarching goal to minimise the company's impact.

 

Leading change

        Implement key ESG ambitions, targets & KPIs across our roadmap to 2027

        Manage internal progress against commitment to the roadmap, working alongside key stakeholders across various teams

        Understand and confidently lead the business using your knowledge of multiple different workstreams within our roadmap e.g. nature, carbon, human rights etc.

 

Standards & Compliance

        Maintain current working knowledge of, and ensure compliance with, all applicable environmental & social laws and regulations. As required, provide and document supporting material & evidence.

        Manage a critical path of audits & associated continuous improvement against legislative and voluntary standards reporting, including annual data reporting to our investors.

        Research best practice, keeping abreast of sustainability leading brands & initiatives

        Ensure MV have all due diligence approaches in place to ensure that the Human Rights of people are protected and respected, both in our direct business operations and in our wider value chain.

        Work with teams across the business to ensure that we make progress against the commitments laid out in our Human Rights policy and Modern Slavery Statement.

 

Carbon measurement and reporting

        Project manage the delivery of our annual carbon footprint with the support of our external partners, Seismic, and utilise internal stakeholders to gather accurate data.

 

Communications & reporting

      Work with Brand team to maximise external communications to our customer base, with transparent sharing of information and validated data.

        Work with internal stakeholders to drive clear internal sustainability communication, confidently deliver company business updates and ensure robust training programmes are delivered to relevant teams.

        Project manage the creation of our annual Impact Report; collate and write content, collect relevant and verifiable data, brief our creative team on design and manage external validation of all claims

        Lead the data collection, writing and publication of our Modern Slavery Statement, aligned with regional and global legislative requirements.

 

External partners:

        Manage relationships with external parties to ensure clear, defined and transparent ways of working, specifically with reference to: 

        Positive Luxury: utilise our partnership with Positive Luxury and our certification against the Butterfly Mark, connect with brand where appropriate to share our partnership externally.

        Watch & Jewellery Initiative: ensure MV alignment to 3 pillars, complete annual reporting requirements, and be MV’s point of contact for pillar workstreams.

        UNGC: make the most of our membership with the UNGC, complete our annual reporting requirements as members

 

Budget

        Manage the sustainability and charitable giving budgets. Ensure appropriate documentation and records are kept to deliver against these budgets.

 

Cross-functional working

        Be the internal knowledge base for sustainability at MV, providing expertise to the wider business as required on specific topics

        Work collaboratively with our People & Culture Team, to support social topics including Human Rights, community engagement/volunteering and the EDI agenda, including gender equality.

        Work closely with the Supply Chain team to drive supplier engagement on ESG and ensure associated validation & due diligence is completed within the supply chain.

        Manage your own critical path of continuous improvement projects, with tight cross-functional working

        Oversee volunteering initiatives & progress against targets, with the support of Green Team champions

 

As a committee leader / member

        Lead Green Team Meetings & manage the focus of initiatives and output of the team

        Participate in WeBelong (our ED&I committee) as a key connection point between team sustainability and the wider business inclusion agenda

        Represent Team MV internally and externally, upholding Company values and behaviours as an Ambassador or representative of your Committee or Group

        Raise awareness of emerging issues, contributing to the success of employee led Committees or functions to deliver against overall Company objectives

        Use additional support (training, membership of external groups and Committees, webinars etc.) to influence improvement, prioritisation and implementation of goals of your Committee or Group

What you’ll bring

        Prior experience working within the sustainability industry

        Leadership skills to efficiently manage internal stakeholders of all levels and external partnerships

        The ability to work in an ambiguous environment, where the answer is not always obvious, and the right questions need to be asked

        Excellent relationship building skills

        Excellent communication and negotiation skills

        Adept at managing multiple priorities and with meticulous attention to detail

        Strong sense of accountability and ownership, sound decision-making and the ability to quickly identify problems and implement solutions.

        The ability to work under pressure in a dynamic environment with the ability to plan and prioritise

        Team player with a collaborative attitude, strong willingness to learn and ability to adapt to an ever changing work environment

        A passion for getting things done, always willing to offer support and help to others

        You are calm under pressure

        A strong external network in sustainability and willingness to get stuck into forums that are designed for collective learning and change

        Sound ability of Microsoft Office including Excel

Additional Requirements

Ability to document your authorisation to work in the United Kingdom.

Travel Requirements

Travel to the Norfolk office is required every 2 weeks, and more frequently as and when business need requires.
