Your Next Challenge

We are seeking an experienced Service Automation and Continual Compliance Lead to build and lead a capability that makes governance automated, continual and evidence-based across FinOps, security and architecture compliance.

As Service Automation and Continual Compliance Lead, you are the "self-service with continual compliance" voice - the leader who shifts the organization from periodic audits to automated measurement, from manual gates to intelligent guardrails, and from reactive reporting to self-service analytics. You build the automation platform that enables internal customers to move fast safely while maintaining audit-ready evidence for regulators.

This is a hands-on leadership role - you lead a lean service automation team while personally contributing to technical delivery. You set strategy, build capability, and deliver automation that turns policy into measurable, continual assurance.

Key Responsibilities:

Continual Compliance Analytics
  • Design and run automated compliance analytics across FinOps, Security and Architecture
  • Convert policies and regulatory requirements into codified checks with clear pass/fail outcomes
  • Deliver audit-ready evidence with trend reporting and insights
  • Monitor cost governance, security posture and architectural standards using automated measurement
Team Leadership & Growth
  • Lead and develop a lean service automation team (2–3 engineers)
  • Set technical direction, standards and delivery cadence
  • Operate the team as a product function (backlog, SLAs, stakeholder engagement)
  • Champion DevOps culture: automation-first, guardrails over manual approvals
Hands-On Automation & Integration
  • Build automation to remove manual compliance, reporting and remediation effort
  • Develop APIs, services and data pipelines integrating cloud, security, identity and finance systems
  • Enable self-service analytics and reporting for internal teams
  • Embed secure, zero-trust patterns across automation and workflows
Reporting & Stakeholder Enablement
  • Own executive dashboards, scorecards and reporting outputs
  • Translate technical data into business and regulatory insights
  • Partner with Finance, Risk, Audit and Engineering to support governance and reporting
Automation Strategy & Patterns
  • Define and evolve automation and compliance strategy
  • Establish policy-as-code and governance patterns
  • Recommend tools and platforms to improve cost, compliance and operational efficiency
  • Enable safe self-service through guardrails and standards

Essential Knowledge, Skills & Experience

FinOps & Cost Governance
  • Strong FinOps expertise (cost control, tagging, unit economics, optimisation)
  • Experience automating compliance and governance into measurable analytics
  • Proven delivery of cloud cost savings and optimisation outcomes
Leadership & Team Building
  • Experience leading technical teams (DevOps, SRE, FinOps or platform engineering)
  • Track record of mentoring and growing engineers
  • Comfortable operating a product-focused function with stakeholders
Technical Delivery
  • Hands-on engineering background in automation, tooling or systems integration
  • Experience building data pipelines or reporting solutions
  • Ability to contribute technically while leading
Regulated Environment
  • Experience working in regulated industries
  • Strong understanding of audit, controls and evidence requirements
  • Confident engaging with senior stakeholders across Finance, Risk and Engineering

Essential Technical Skills

Azure & Cloud Governance
  • Azure governance tools (Policy, Resource Graph, Cost Management)
  • Identity and access management (AAD, RBAC, PIM)
  • Familiarity with key Azure services (Functions, Logic Apps, APIs, messaging)
Software Development & Automation
  • Proficiency in Python, Go or C#
  • Infrastructure-as-code (Terraform or Bicep)
  • CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps)
Data & Analytics
  • Building dashboards and self-service analytics solutions
  • Data pipelines (ETL/ELT, APIs, event-driven patterns)
  • Monitoring, logging and alerting
FinOps & Compliance
  • Cloud cost allocation and optimisation strategies
  • Policy-as-code / compliance-as-code approaches
  • Audit evidence generation and regulatory reporting
