The role leads the independent assessment, validation, and documentation of product valuation approaches across the payments portfolio, ensuring transparency, regulatory alignment, and robust control.

This role is key to transitioning from manual, next‑day reconciliation workflows to automated, same‑day trade capture and validation.

This role is ideal for someone with strong valuation control, regulatory reporting, or product control experience who thrives in a continuous‑improvement environment.

Key Responsibilities

Product Valuation Governance

  • Lead the design, implementation, and maintenance of valuation methodologies for all payment products (FX payments, card products, cross‑border transfers, merchant solutions, wallets, etc.).
  • Ensure valuation models meet regulatory expectations, including documentation, transparency, and independent challenge requirements.
  • Conduct periodic reviews and independent validations of pricing assumptions, cost models, risk adjustments, and fair‑value methodologies.

Regulatory Compliance

  • Deliver valuation input for regulatory reports, audits, and model governance reviews.
  • Maintain documentation and audit trails relating to valuation approaches and reconciliation processes.

Market & Model Risk Oversight

  • Perform pricing and valuation impact assessments associated with regulatory changes, scheme updates, cost changes, and market conditions.
  • Challenge business-owned pricing models and support stress‑testing activities.

Stakeholder Management

  • Work cross‑functionally with Finance, Risk, Product, and Compliance teams.
  • Present findings, reports, and recommendations to senior stakeholders and governance forums.
  • Act as subject‑matter expert on trade capture, reconciliation, and valuation controls.

Skills & Experience Required

Essential Experience

  • 5-10 years of experience within financial services
  • Proven experience in product valuation, pricing governance, or valuation control, ideally within financial services or payments.
  • Strong understanding of regulatory frameworks affecting financial institutions, including valuation governance, model risk, and financial reporting obligations.
  • Demonstrable analytical expertise, with ability to interpret complex models and datasets.
  • Experience working with regulatory reporting or compliance teams, consistent with regulatory reporting & compliance market norms.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills across multifunctional teams.

Desirable

  • Experience in payments, FX, cards, or transaction services or product control.
  • Exposure to regulatory reviews, model risk management, or audit of derivative portfolios (covering pricing of fx forwards, options and TARFS)
  • Familiarity with valuation practices used in banking environments (e.g., IPV, fair‑value, model validation).
  • Familiar with using reconciliation software such as Duco

 Education

  • Degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Financial Engineering, or related field.
  • Professional certifications (e.g., ICA, CISI, or equivalent).

Soft Skills & Attributes

  • High attention to detail and strong risk awareness.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple deadlines.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills with the confidence to challenge and influence.
  • Structured thinker with the ability to simplify complex information for broader audiences.
  • Proactive mindset with a commitment to continuous improvement.
