The Senior Accountant is responsible for supporting the full cycle financial close process including General Ledger maintenance, Non-Merchandise expense review, and executing the sales audit function. This position is located in-office 4 days a week (with 1 day remote) at our Central Store Support office (Rockville, MD).
  1. Reconcile assigned Balance Sheet accounts and record applicable journal entries
  2. Prepare period end fluctuation analysis/Budget vs. Actual to support the timely closing of the period
  3. Review non-merchandise invoices for proper coding and approvals, and utilities for proper usage and payment
  4. Reconcile corporate bank accounts and coordinate with team members to ensure all activity is recorded
  5. Review daily cash discrepancies and recommend solutions for recovery/mitigation
  6. Evaluates initiatives, recommends new approaches, policies and procedures to effect continual improvements in efficiency of department and services performed
  7. Prepares and presents data/presentations in a timely and easy to understand format
  8. Foster a workplace consistent with MOM's purpose, values, and goals
  9. Performs other duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting
  • 3-5 years' related experience
  • Proficiency with automated A/P systems
  • Experience with general ledger account reconciliation
  • Experience with financial reporting and analysis
  • Advanced experience with Microsoft Excel
  • Experience with Google Suite & Microsoft Office
  • Excellent attention to detail, especially with communication (written and verbal) and meeting deadlines
  • Ability to prioritize tasks that change frequently and manage unexpected demands
  • Dependable, follows instructions and takes initiative to solve problems
  • Interest in company culture and desire to grow in the field
  • Experience in a fast-paced work environment

Nice to have:

  • 5+ years' experience in field
  • Previous retail/merchande experience
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Dynamics 365 and Medius
The salary range for this position is $76 -$88k.
