About This Role
The Project and Permit Manager is responsible for project work plans, managing the project delivery process, and delivering approved permits for MN Studio projects to meet company strategic goals. Day to day, this role will create and manage work plans, establish and manage project teams, be responsible for project quality assurance, and pro-actively direct the permit review process for successful approvals. The Project and Permit Manager will partner with the Architecture team to help create high quality homes, coordinate with MN Studio business partners to meet strategic goals and participate in various MN Studio initiatives.
On a Given Day, Your Work Might Include
- Create and Implement Project Work Plan
- Identify, select, and pro-actively manage consultant teams to successful project completion within budget and schedule parameters
- Set Project Schedule and milestones according to designated project Delivery Pathway and MN Studio strategic priorities
- Match and assign team members with critical path tasks within the Project Schedule
- Maintain and update project schedule and task completion for Current Project State on a daily basis
- Communicate deliverable scope and performance expectations to project team clearly and pro-actively
- Manage schedule pace and team performance to meet schedule and project success criteria
- Manage Permit Process
- Establish and maintain core knowledge and expertise in jurisdictional permit requirements
- Ensure jurisdictional requirements for submittals and reviews are met completely and pro-actively
- Develop and maintain trust relationships and channels of communication with jurisdictional review staff
- Actively track permit review progress and communicate status to project teams and leadership
- Track and manage permit review corrections and responses for fast and complete resolution
- Be accountable for permit delivery pipeline and timelines
- Maintain Quality Standards
- Review work deliverables for completeness and coordination at designated QA milestones
- Schedule and coordinate QA reviewer commitments
- Compile, communicate, track, and manage resolution of all QA issue items in a timely manner
- Coordinate With Company Partners
- Support and manage project communication and coordination between MN Studio and our partners in real estate, procurement, construction, and Interior Design
- Manage and direct resolution of design and permit related issues arising during procurement and construction
- Understand and meet core role expectations for Project and Permit Management in relation to other MN Studio partners in Production Architecture and Product Development
- Work to co-own project success through mutual respect and teamwork
- Be accountable for meeting MN Studio strategic goals and target KPIs
- General Requirements
- Model and reinforce actions and behaviors consistent with company values, mission, and culture
- Pro-actively build relationships and partner with team members and key stakeholders across the organization at all levels
- Stay informed and fully up-to-date on land use codes, building codes, and permit requirements across multiple jurisdictions, communicating these requirements to team partners
- Identify opportunities and drive continuous improvement related to MN standards and work quality
- Partner cross-functionally on projects and initiatives as needed or required
- Perform other related duties as necessary or required
Preferred Qualifications
- Thorough knowledge of permit requirements, submittals, land-use, and residential codes
- Strong organizational, communication (verbal and written), and time management skills
- Ability to pro-actively manage multiple projects at different stages of design, documentation, permitting, and construction simultaneously while maintaining a strong sense of project organization
- Familiarity and fluency with Salesforce, MS Office, Bluebeam Revu/Studio, and online permit tracking site such as mybuildingpermit.com
- Ability to review and accurately interpret engineering, architectural, and other construction-related technical drawings
- Ability to prioritize and work independently with minimal direction and oversight
- Ability to adopt and practice MN processes and standards
What You Bring to MN Custom Homes
- Bachelor’s Degree in architecture or a related discipline is strongly preferred
- 5+ years experience in residential project design/permitting/construction
- 3+ years experience in project or entitlement management
- Residential project leadership experience is desired. Please submit a portfolio of past work with application, specifying individual responsibilities for example projects
- Experience with Autodesk Revit and Construction Cloud is preferred
- Experience with Salesforce Taskray project management platform and tools is preferred
Working Environment & Physical Requirements
- This position requires frequent use of a computer, including keyboard functions and visual acuity of 20 inches or fewer on a daily basis
- Must be able to work in office Monday – Friday, within core business hours of 8AM-5PM

Hours & Compensation
This is a full-time position paying $92,457 - $138,686. The base salary range represents the anticipated low and high end of the salary range for this position. Individual placement within a salary range will vary based upon factors including but not limited to candidate experience, knowledge, individual, skills, and organizational performance.
