Automotive Technical Compliance Specialist

Mitsubishi Motors North America is relocating its Headquarters from Cypress, CA to Franklin, TN! In support of our exciting big move, we are looking for a Technical Compliance Specialist to join our Aftersales Service team. As a Technical Compliance Specialist, you will ensure that MMNA marketed vehicles and MMNA business practices meet Federal and State technical compliance requirements for emission and safety. You will also provide technical compliance guidance to MMNA operational departments.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Oversee the gathering, review and publishing of fuel and environment values, American Automobile Labeling Act (AALA) values, and safety ratings for inclusion in the MMNA Order Management System (OMS) for completion of the vehicle "Monroney" labels
  • Review the Monroney labels for completeness and accuracy of fuel and environment, safety ratings and ALAA data
  • Initiate the gathering of information from the MMNA OMS database to calculate the domestic content and provide the information to MMC for inclusion in each of the three CAFÉ reports (Pre-Model, Mid-Model and Final). Review final versions of the reports and submit to the EPA and NHTSA as required by regulation submit to EPA Verify online database
  • Oversee the monitoring and distribution of manufacturer certification schedules (EPA & ARB). Develop and distribute charts outlining the sales and distribution requirements in order to comply with Federal and California regulations
  • Ensure that the required service information is transmitted to the EPA/CARB as required by regulations
  • Collect the information from the Case Track system to complete the Death and Injury data and complete the required Early Warning Spreadsheets for inclusion in the quarterly TREAD reports
  • Prepare and submit the quarterly TREAD Early Warning reports to the Artimus Computer System
  • Receive and process VIN plate and FMVSS Label orders.
  • Initiate the launch of recalls and service campaigns with the various stakeholders both internally and externally. Develop bulletins for campaigns
  • Develop and create technical service bulletins
  • Prepare and submit recall campaign completion reports to NHTSA and EPA. Submit emissions completion reports to EPA verify online database
  • Prepare and submit responses to information requests from NHTSA vehicle investigations and treat death and injury report investigations
  • May provide functional direction to lower level positions
  • Meet stated deadlines while delivering quality results
  • Other duties and projects as assigned or required
What you’ll have:
  • 2 to 4 years’ experience in vehicle technical compliance such as a Paralegal, a Compliance Specialist dealing with regulatory agencies or a Technical Writer familiar with vehicle regulations
  • BA/BS degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Preferable Prior experience with an Asian vehicle importer
  • Advanced knowledge of vehicle technical compliance issues (i.e., CFR 49, TREAD ACT, CAFÉ, NHTSA, Federal and State Regulations)
