Manager, Parts & Accessory Development

Mitsubishi Motors North America is relocating its Headquarters from Cypress, CA to Franklin, TN! In support of our exciting big move, we are looking for a Manager of Parts & Accessory. As the Manager of Parts and Accessory, you will manage the team responsible for development of all accessory and parts programs from concept to mass production to achieve sales and profit objectives. Ensure proper communication between MMNA and vendors developing assigned parts and projects. Assist Parts and Accessory Marketing group in successful launch of all initiatives.

What you'll be doing:

  • Manage research and accessory concept development, including recommendations on pricing and market trend analysis to achieve sales and margin targets.
  • Ensure that business plans are developed and include all needed information on pricing, tooling, projected sales, and inventory constraints to allow management to make informed decisions.
  • Lead development of new Local Genuine Accessories including completion of business plans, establishing project timeline & maintaining schedule, supplier parts legal agreements, engineering, and all necessary production parts approval process (PPAP) requirements for on-time launch.
  • Coordinate and assist in the design, development, production, and implementation of new accessories including all testing and quality control of parts from design and production to implementation.
  • Work with vendors to evaluate off-tool samples for quality, fit and finish. Development of special installation tooling and jigs for port accessory installations. Conduct and document accessory port-installer flat rate time studies, as well as technical training of port accessory installers.
  • Manager and help maintain accessory regulatory weight database, port operations jig allocation/repair, input and maintain carryover accessory reporting. 
  • Manage submission of all accessory data to Parts Procurement and Product Support. Oversee review and analysis of warranty claims for all accessories, present trend reports to management and manage corrective actions with vendors. Work with product support group to address any accessory design quality issues.
  • Manage port-installed-option (PIO) accessory development, pricing and vehicle port equipment option planning, including revenue analysis, business case, labor time validation and posting, pricing studies, installation training, and parts marketing support.
  • Oversee the Input, maintenance and publishing of vehicle master specification to Order Management Systems and internal intranet for all assigned vehicles with sales mix recommendations that support vehicle distribution forecasting and dealer orders for North American Markets.
  • Oversee and manage all aspects of accessory development reporting weekly to Japan about status of ongoing development progress and administration of local accessory projects and aligning with factory lifecycle vehicle product plans.

What you'll have:
  • 8-10 years progressive experience in Accessory Development for a vehicle wholesaler, or at least 6 years exempt level experience in areas such as parts marketing, product development, product planning, engineering, sales training, district manger, or program management with an automotive products distributor/supplier or wholesaler.
  • Ideal: Past development experience with OEM parts and accessories.
  • BA/BS degree in Engineering/Business Administration/Marketing or equivalent combination of education or experience.
  • Advanced knowledge of Engineering, Parts or Accessory development/design.
  • Knowledge of OEM automotive systems as it pertains to design, development, manufacturing, quality control, and quality assurance for parts and or accessories.
  • Formalized training and or experience in areas such as an OEM or after-marketing, sales and profit analysis, pricing, marketing research/competitive analysis.
  • Moderate nationwide travel required.
  • Must maintain a valid unconditional driver’s license and MMNA approved driving record.
  • Previous supervisory/management experience.
  • Previous experience with industry research tools and software packages
