At MMNA, we're seeking a skilled individual to oversee and ensure the timely compliance with federal and state tax requirements, encompassing income tax, franchise, property, licensing, and other tax matters for MMNA and its subsidiaries. In this pivotal role, you'll delve into researching and analyzing federal and state corporate income, franchise, and property tax issues, providing invaluable support to the finance team and the company as a whole. Your responsibilities will extend to managing tax preparation, analysis, and returns, ensuring compliance, auditing, and internal controls, as well as conducting information research and reporting. A representation of job responsibilities is outlined below:    
Tax Preparation, Analysis and Returns    
  • Review or prepare monthly tax account reconciliations and journal entries.
  • Prepare and/or review consolidated federal, proforma and state tax returns. Prepare allocation and apportionment and other supporting schedules such as  tax depreciation reports, among others.
  • Prepare federal and state estimated tax payments and extensions.  .
  • Prepare federal excise tax, state license  and property tax renditions.
  • Review assessed property taxes and ensure timely payment.
  • Review and/or research/reconcile tax depreciation keys, tax basis, additions and disposals, location and new depreciation limitation table. Report results of review/research to the supervisor. Coordinate with the SAP team to apply changes to SAP, as assigned.
  • Prepare claims for tax refunds, maintain tax records, and prepare routine and special tax reports.
  • Coordinate annual roll over of the Tax Software. Ensure accuracy of information transferred.
  • Upload trial balances and permanent/timing differences in the Tax Software. Create new account codes for new GL accounts and new permanent/timing differences. Ensure that uploads tied with the workpapers.
  • Update, maintain and organize tax records and filings.
Compliance, Auditing and Internal Controls    
  • Coordinate with various departments to ensure compliance with other federal laws, e.g. 1099 reporting, Forms 8300, 1042, FINCEN, and other requirements that may be imposed by tax agencies.
  • Manage tax calendar and other important dates and ensure compliance with deadlines. 
  • Review, research and respond to correspondence/notices from federal and state taxing authorities.
  • Assist in federal, state and local income franchise and property and tax audits.
  • Assist in internal and external tax audits and compliance with internal controls.
Information, Research and Reporting    
  • Prepare consolidated monthly and year-end income tax provisions and journal entries. Prepare tax footnote schedules required for MMNA and parent company financial statements.
  • Prepare year-end, monthly, audit and other internal reports to MMC.  Assist in responding to ad-hoc requests from MMC and other departments/entities.
Note: In addition, the Sr. Tax Analyst will “wear many hats,” serving as backup for other employees on the team, and should be willing to learn new areas.  S/he will serve as a mentor to other staff members on projects and tasks, and may have the opportunity to work on cross-functional teams as the need arises.  This list of responsibilities is representative, and the Tax Analyst may perform other duties as assigned or required.   A regular full-time schedule of at least eight (8) hours per day and forty (40) hours per week is required.    
    
    
Salary range:    
    
The base salary for this position ranges between $70,000 to $85,000. The base salary will be based on a number of factors including the role offered, the individual's job-related knowledge, skills, and qualifications. Location of Position:    
    
This position is located in Franklin, Tennessee (the greater Nashville area) and the successful candidate must be located in TN. Upon completion of new hire onboarding process (30 - 60 days in office), this position will be a hybrid role with ability to work from home an average of 3 days per week.    
    
    
Position Requirements and “Nice to Haves”:    
  • 4 + years of professional-level corporate tax experience as a Tax Accountant/Analyst or equivalent position preparing combined and consolidated federal and state income tax returns and indirect tax returns.
  • BS/BA in Accounting/Business/Finance or related field.
  • Accounting experience with a “big 4” firm a plus.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) status.
  • Advanced knowledge of Corptax or equivalent tax return preparation software
  • Experience in deferred tax accounting and knowledge of GAAP requirements related to tax issues.
  • Proficient in Microsoft products such as Excel, Word, Teams and Outlook.
