Tax Analyst

Mitsubishi Motors North America is relocating its Headquarters from Cypress, CA to Franklin, TN! In support of our exciting big move, we are looking for a Tax Analyst to join our Finance & Accounting team. As a Tax Analyst, you will provide support in the timely compliance with federal and state income franchise, property and license tax return requirements for MMNA and subsidiaries, as well as research federal and state corporate income, franchise and property tax issues. You will also be responsible for assisting in the preparation of quarterly income tax provisions for less complicated entities, assisting in tax audits of MMNA and subsidiaries, and monitoring the calendar and ensure that all deadlines are met timely.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Prepare year-end and quarterly income tax provisions for all entities and all schedules required to prepare footnotes to financial statements and disclosures.
  • Prepare and/or review consolidated federal, federal proforma and state tax return
  • Prepare state allocation and apportionment work papers and supporting schedule
  • Review and/or prepare federal and state extensions and estimates.
  • Prepare year-end, monthly, audit and other internal reports to MM
  • Review or prepare monthly tax account reconciliations and journal entries.
  • Prepare federal excise tax and state license return Coordinate with the team in obtaining updated officers and directors listing monthly or more frequently, as needed.
  • Prepare property tax renditions, review assessed property taxes and ensure timely payment
  • Update Fixed Assets software as needed and reconcile Tax Fixed Assets information based on information received from sources. Coordinate with IT on installing system update
  • Coordinate with various departments to ensure compliance with other federal laws, e.
  • 1099 reporting, completion of Forms 8300, 1042, FINCEN, and other requirements that may be imposed by tax agencies.
  • Manage tax calendar and ensure that deadlines are complied with.
  • Review, research and respond to correspondence from state taxing authorities
  • Prepare claims for tax refunds, maintain tax records, and prepare routine and special tax reports.
  • Assist in federal, state and local income franchise and property and tax audits.
  • Assist in internal and external tax audits and compliance with internal controls.
  • Coordinate roll over of information in the Tax Software from year to year and transition of information in cases of new software installation
  • Update, maintain and organize tax records and filing
  • Assist in responding to ad hoc requests 
  • Learn the work of the other Analysts and serve as back up in his/her absence.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or required.

What you’ll have:
  • 3 – 5 years professional-level tax experience as a Tax Accountant or equivalent position preparing corporate federal and state income tax returns
  • BS/BA in Accounting/Business/Finance or related field
  • Accounting experience with a “big 4” firm. (preferred)
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) status. (preferred)
  • Advanced knowledge of Corptax or equivalent tax return preparation software. (preferred)
  • Experience in deferred tax accounting and knowledge of GAAP requirements related to tax issues. (preferred)
