Mitsubishi Motors North America, Inc. is looking for a Tax Analyst to join our Finance team. As a Tax Analyst you will be responsible for ensuring timely compliance with federal and state requirements related, but not limited to, income tax, franchise, property, annual report, business license and other tax matters for MMNA and subsidiaries. Research federal and state corporate income, franchise and property tax issues.  Assist in federal and state income and franchise tax audits of MMNA and subsidiaries. Prepare monthly income tax reconciliations for MMNA and subsidiaries. Assist in compliance with internal and external audit requirements such as FASB ASC 740/JSOX and other accounting pronouncements, Tax Reform changes and implementation of controls associated with tax matters.

What you'll be doing:

  1. Assist in the preparation of income tax provisions for all entities and all schedules required to prepare footnotes to financial statements and disclosures.
  2. Assist in the review of consolidated federal, federal proforma and state tax returns for MMNA and subsidiaries.
  3. Prepare state allocation and apportionment work papers and supporting schedule.
  4. Prepare federal and state extensions and estimates, as assigned.
  5. Prepare year-end, monthly, audit and other internal reports to MMC
  6. Prepare monthly tax account reconciliations and journal entries.
  7. Prepare federal excise tax and state license returns. Coordinate with the team in obtaining updated officers and directors listing monthly or more frequently, as needed.
  8. Prepare property tax renditions, review assessed property taxes and ensure timely payment.
  9. Coordinate with various departments to ensure compliance with other federal, state and local laws, etc.
  10. 1099 reporting, completion of Forms 8300, 1042, FINCEN, and other requirements that may be imposed by tax agencies.
  11. Review tax calendar and ensure that deadlines are complied with and update status of assigned tasks and notices.
  12. Review, research and draft response to correspondence/notices from state taxing authorities.
  13. Prepare claims for tax refunds, maintain tax records, and prepare routine and special tax reports.
  14. Prepare DocuSign check requests for tasks assigned requiring payments.
  15. Assist in federal, state and local income franchise and property and tax audits.
  16. Assist in internal and external tax audits and compliance with internal controls.
  17. Assist in roll over of information in the Tax Software from year to year and transition of information in cases of new software installation.
  18. Update, maintain and organize tax records and filing
  19. Assist in responding to ad hoc requests 
  20. Learn the work of the other Analysts and serve as back up in their absence.
  21. Perform other duties as assigned or required.
  22. Regular attendance at work or remote (as permitted by supervisor) on a regular full-time schedule of at least eight (8) hours daily and 40 hours per week.
What you'll have

  1. BS/BA in Accounting/Business/Finance or related field or equivalent specific education or experience in tax compliance
  2. One to five (1 - 5) years experience in a large or medium multinational corporation
  3. Accounting experience with a “big 4” firm a plus.
  4. Certified Public Accountant (CPA) status a plus.
  5. Advanced knowledge of Corptax or equivalent tax return preparation software a plus
  6. Proficient in Microsoft products such as Excel, Word, Teams and Outlook.
