Parts Developer

Product Planning Franklin, Tennessee


Mitsubishi Motors North America is relocating its Headquarters from Cypress, CA to Franklin, TN! In support of our exciting big move, we are looking for a Parts Developer to join our Product Planning team. As a Parts Developer, you will coordinate and manage the concept, research, development, and production of assigned parts, accessories, and parts programs to achieve sales and profit objectives. You will also act as a contact person between MMNA and vendors developing assigned parts and projects and assist Parts and Accessory Marketing group in successful launch of all initiatives with technical and vendor interaction.


What you’ll be doing:

  • Assist in developing a line of locally developed parts in line with (U.S.) market demand and Mitsubishi quality engineering requirements
  • Develop business plans that include all needed information on pricing, tooling, projected sales, and inventory constraints to allow management to make informed decisions
  • Assist in Initiating and managing technical design/development of local parts in close communication with MMC (Mitsubishi Global) engineering
  • Assist in oversight of technical specifications/testing procedures and obtain MMC approval
  • Collaborate with USFT pilot and APO procurement in defining product requirements as well as supplier selection
  • Analyze technical documentation (CAD data / drawings / materials / installation method) and make recommendations for improvement and accuracy
  • Monitor and assist in managing technical product development process with selected suppliers
  • Assist in product development follow up and reporting of parameters to MMC
  • Maintain communication with relevant (external and internal) parties
  • Assist in managing product release process
  • Work with vendors to evaluate off-tool samples for quality, fit and finish
  • Coordinate submission of parts data to Procurement and Product Support
  • Review and analyze warranty claims for assigned parts, present reports to management and initiate corrective actions with vendors. Work with product support group to address any quality issues
  • Other duties as assigned or required.


What you’ll have:

  • 3 years exempt-level experience in areas such as parts marketing, product development, product planning, engineering, sales training, district manager, or program management with an automotive products distributor/supplier or wholesaler
  • BA/BS degree in Engineering/Business Administration/Marketing or equivalent combination of education or experience
  • Past development experience local and worldwide automotive parts and/or accessory supplier, familiarity working with engineering concepts, technical drawings, and problem solving
  • Knowledge of Engineering, Parts or Accessory development/design
  • Knowledge of OEM automotive systems as it pertains to design, development, manufacturing, quality control, and quality assurance for parts and/or accessories
  • Formalized training and or experience in areas such as an OEM or aftermarket, sales and profit analysis, pricing, marketing research/competitive analysis.
  • Moderate nationwide travel required.
  • Must maintain a valid unconditional driver’s license and pass government background check for TWIC's badge.
