Mitsubishi Motors North America is relocating its Headquarters from Cypress, CA to Franklin, TN! In support of our exciting big move, we are looking for a Manager of Technology Planning. As the Manager of Technology Planning, you will drive strategy and planning for all areas of vehicle technology, including connected car, multimedia, ADAS and autonomous vehicles.

Connected Car Operations is the hub of connectivity for Mitsubishi Motors. This leadership position is responsible for managing and coordinating our connected services program, charting courses and acting as the central point of contact to ensure all groups work together to meet program and corporate objectives. This includes implementing Connected Information Business strategies, planning and marketing for the programs, and interfacing with related internal teams and venders/agencies.

This manager will also be responsible for cross-carline planning for multimedia, ADAS and autonomous, as needed. These are new and growing areas and it is anticipated that the focus in these areas will increase over time.

What you'll be doing:

  • Connected Car Business and Usage: Act as an agent of change, brainstorming new ways to meet or exceed enrollment, conversion, renewal, usage and other performance objectives. This requires interfacing with internal and external stakeholder groups and has a strong emphasis on owner/subscriber marketing. Provides information for management by preparing short- and long-term connected car sales forecasts, utilization reports and analyses (20%)
  • Deliver Connected Car Product Enhancements: Lead connected car service and feature planning, from brainstorming to in-market operation. This requires working with internal stakeholders, MMC planning and R&D, US Quality, relevant vendors, IT support and telematics service provider(s).  Includes supervising development of business Functional Service Requirement, Statement of Work documents and championing new features as voice of the customer. (20%)
  • Expand Connected Car Platform to support new use cases: Develop and support use cases to support new customers, as well as new types of customers in fleet and mobility services. (20%)
  • Leverage the Connected Car Platform to improve business efficiencies: Support the use of connected car capabilities and data to reduce cost and generate revenue and/or operational efficiencies. This includes third-party monetization opportunities and internal usage of connected car services and data.  Work closely with internal privacy and MRDA cybersecurity teams to ensure compliance. (20%)
  • Connected Car Program Support: Conduct regular meetings with partners and vendors, provide regular program performance reports and support regular executive reports and in-person reviews. Monthly reconciliation and payment processing of TSP and other 3rd party CCS providers invoices. Champion the connected car programs to executives and build support for new initiatives. (10%)
  • Other technologies: As needed, conduct market studies and create application proposals related to multimedia/infotainment, ADAS and autonomous vehicles. (10%) 

What you'll have:
  • Eight or more years of experience of which at least 5 years are related to project management at an automotive OEM, preferably in a technology, product and/or marketing role.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a business-related discipline or engineering, MBA a plus.
  • Five or more years of recent connected car technology and B2C subscription model requirements experience strongly desired.
  • Experience with embedded products and hardware, OTA implementations, LTE, GSM, Wi-Fi, and working with service providers/operators and hardware vendors.
  • Understanding of other automotive technology (diagnostics, infotainment, navigation, ADAS and autonomous) and/or consumer electronics strongly desired.
  • Purchasing and vendor management experience including contract and scope of work development required.
  • Proficiency in the use of the Microsoft Office, Business Objects, SAS, JIRA and Confluence required.
  • Automotive Service, Sales, IT, Marketing, Training and/or other experience highly desirable.
