Position Summary:
The L1 Electro-Mechanical Inspector is responsible for performing a mechanical inspection as well as an electrical test on a large volume of items such as electrical components & products, raw materials, packaging materials, and other items as needed for manufacturing.
Job Function:
Read assembly & mechanical drawings to determine inspection specific requirements.
Perform mechanical and electrical inspection of various items using a vision measuring systems and hand tools such as calipers, micrometers, force gauges etc. and electrical equipment such as LCR meter and multimeter.
Items to be inspected include PC boards, switches, cores, connectors, resistors, chip capacitors, enclosures and covers, cables, amplifiers, machined parts & packaging materials, etc. as per assembly drawings and specific criteria under supervision.
Perform visual inspection using a microscope and magnifying lamp.
Perform tests such as resistance to solvents, DC continuity, and material composition using an XRF machine.
Identify and segregate defective units/materials.
Document inspection results in the IQA database.
Qualifications:
Technical school certification or AS in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or similar.
Minimum of 1-year related inspection experience is preferred.
Manufacturing experience is a strong plus.
Ability to read assembly & mechanical drawings.
Ability to be cross-trained on other skills requiring manual dexterity and precision.
Ability to see fine detail through a Smartscope and microscope.
Ability to read, write, and orally communicate in English and have the ability to understand and carry out verbal and written instructions.
Ability to distinguish colors in accordance with the ISHIRA test for color blindness.
Basic Computer skills and understanding of the MS Office Suite.
Must have basic operational knowledge of how to use the equipment within the department.
Must be either a US Citizen or US Permanent Resident (Green Card Holder) due to ITAR compliance.
