Mini-Circuits designs, manufactures and distributes integrated circuits, modules, and sub-systems for high-performance radio frequency (RF) and microwave applications.  With design, sales and manufacturing locations in over 30 countries, Mini-Circuits’ products are used in a range of wired and wireless communications applications. Position Summary:

The Sr. Product Engineer (PE) will work closely with MMIC design, project management, quality, mechanical design and RF test teams to transition the product from development phase to production phase. PE will own MMIC test board development, production test fixture development, production test plan creation, and analysis of production test data, and will assist the quality team in moving the product through qualification. A good understanding of product lifecycle from product conception to development to production release is required especially related to GaAs and GaN MMICs.

This role will be accountable for the design, build and validation of Test Boards (TB) and Test Fixtures (TF), the successful completion of the qualification and final production documentation of the product.  This position must be able to meet deadlines and resolve performance issues along the way with established and appropriate autonomy.

Salary Range: $135,000 - $175,000 per year

Job Function:                                  
  • Develop TB needed to verify functionality of the MMIC in both die and packaged form.
  • Work with CAD team to create formal drawings of the PCB.
  • Work with Mechanical design team to create formal drawings for the base plate and other mechanical components.
  • Work with Project Management team to ensure BOM components are in stock; if not work with Purchasing to order as necessary.
  • Create assembly drawings for assembling the TB including base plate, PCB, SMT components, RF and DC connectors etc.
  • Work with assembly team to build the TB.
  • Work with designer to verify functionality of the TB on the RF test bench; should be capable of using equipment like Network Analyzer to verify TB.
  • Translate the TB into production TF; work closely with design and test teams to implement solutions.
  • Work with Design, CAD, Mechanical, PM, Assembly and Test teams to build and test the TF.
  • Formulate and perform gauge R&R studies of TF to ensure repeatability and reproducibility.
  • Create production test plans.
  • Create and assist in maintaining production test setups.
  • Analyze production test data as well as pre/post qualification data; initiate improvements to product performance and manufacturability.
  • Establish reasonable limits for the datasheet specifications with the help of statistical analysis.
  • Drive product yield improvements and cost reduction initiatives.
  • Analyze wafer level test data to identify process issues/concerns.
  • Work with Quality and Design teams to define qualification plan for the product; work with Quality and Test teams to execute the qualification plan, coordinate test/outside service resources, and deliver qualified product on-time and on-budget.
  • “Own” the product lifecycle from post-product design verification through product release.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering + 5 years of relevant experience in RF Design
  • Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering + 3 years of relevant experience in RF Design
  • Should have good understanding of RF and Microwave test equipment such as PNA-X, Vector Network Analyzers, Power Meters, Spectrum Analyzers, Noise Meters etc.
  • Must be able to work with AutoCAD and/or Solidworks to verify drawings
  • Should have experience with circuit level analysis tools such as ADS, MWO or equivalent.
  • Should have experience with 3D EM simulation tools such as HFSS, CST or equivalent.
  • Strong statistical skills are a must.
  • Excellent organization, planning, communication and writing skills are needed.
  • Must be an engaged and collaborative member of the team, working productively with multiple stakeholders throughout the business
