Mini-Circuits designs, manufactures and distributes integrated circuits, modules, and sub-systems for high-performance radio frequency (RF) and microwave applications.  With design, sales and manufacturing locations in over 30 countries, Mini-Circuits’ products are used in a range of wired and wireless communications applications. Mini-Circuits’ sells its products to over 20,000 customers globally through our direct sales force, applications engineering staff, sales representatives, as well as through our extensive website.

Position Summary:
The CAD Designer II is responsible for utilizing computer aided design (CAD) software, such as AutoCAD, DraftSight and/or SolidWorks to create/revise mechanical drawings, wiring layouts and electrical diagrams as well as to create/revise other models documents, such as assembly and tuning instructions, routings, etc. using Microsoft Word and Mini-Circuits legacy software programs, and to post new/updated drawings and documents into PLM system. Member has to ensure that created drawings and documents meet product design goals, existing standards and Mini-Circuits procedures.
 
Salary Range: $73,000 - $90,000 per year
 
Job Function:                                                                 
  • Create new drawings or revise existing drawings using CAD software based on mark-ups or hand sketches provided by design or process engineers and create PDF files for new or revised drawings to be published in PLM system.
  • Create/update model documents in accordance with Change Orders using Word processing software and prepare them to be published in PLM system.
  • Maintain files in SolidWorks PDM system.
  • Prepare library elements of components to be used in the assembly drawings and model wiring layouts, based on Specification Control Drawing (SCD) for applicable components.
  • Prepare 3D drawings of Mini-Circuits products per customer requests or to be published on the web.
  • Prepare draft drawings per engineering requests for Engineering Development (ED) projects.
  • Check completeness of Bill of Materials entered in PLM system and correctness of model routings entered/updated in AS/400 against mark ups provided in Change Order.
  • Collaborate on technical decisions with design and process engineers, QA and production departments based on his experience, suggest design/process improvements if such needed.
  • Uses Mini-Circuits legacy software program to create a PDF version of model routings (model -10 page) from AS400.
  • Create artwork files to mark metal parts (covers, enclosures, plates) using stamping method.
  • Timely respond to any assignment made in PLM system and update assignment status.
  • Support CAD team in ISO Audits and Management reviews and participate in internal and external audits.

Qualifications:
  • Associate’s degree within engineering discipline or relevant field of study
  • 4+ years of experience in creating drawings for electronic and mechanical assemblies and details.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience with AutoCAD and SolidWorks.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing. 
  • Ability to customize AutoCAD, DraftSight or SolidWorks in order to improve its performance.
  • Ability to create 3D drawings using AutoCAD and/or SolidWorks.
  • Must have demonstrated proficiency and experience using modern CAD/CAM design tools and ability and willingness to learn new software as required to perform job duties.
  • Ability to multi-task and adjust to changing priorities and short deadlines.
  • Background in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering a plus.
  • Working knowledge of AS/400 a plus.
  • Working knowledge of Arena PLM system, a plus.
  • Multi-lingual (Russian, Mandarin) a plus.
