Are you a student interested in pursuing a career in Database Engineering?   If so, MidwayUSA might be just the place for you!  As a Database Intern with MidwayUSA you will assist in the maintenance and performance of database environments and their reporting counterpart. The Database Intern with MidwayUSA will also participate in new projects to identify the best means of storing and retrieving the information needed by new and existing applications.   

To qualify for an internship with MidwayUSA, Database Intern applicants must meet the following criteria:

1. The intern should be within 12 months of completing all requirements for graduation from an accredited program. 
2. Able to work approximately 16 hours per week/2 hour block minimum at a time, during the school year and full-time when school is not in session. 
3. Minimum of 3.0 GPA
4. Enrolled in a qualified higher education program in a field related to the internship opportunity
5. Live locally in the Columbia, MO area

Sample of specific duties for the Database Intern:  

• Assist in ensuring backups (including testing restores) for active production databases
• Assist in assembling and implementing valid data archiving plans
• Ensuring database security, including password security as well as keeping patch status up to date  

The ideal candidate for the Database Intern:  

• Will be/are pursuing a Bachelors degree in a technical discipline
• Innovative team player with a high level of energy, self-motivation and creativity
• Familiar with standard concepts, practices and procedures related to database management 
• Will have the ability to learn how to efficiently generate SQL queries and/or SQL reporting services (for database mining)
