EPG Master Technician
Description
Objective
This position performs mechanical and electrical services for our EPG Rental Department. Duties include troubleshooting electrical and mechanical issues, performing service and repairs, writing service reports, recording time assigned to jobs and maintaining a company-issued truck and equipment.
Responsibilities
- Troubleshooting various Diesel isochronous governing and load sharing systems controlling 480VAC/12.47KVAC, engine-generators and circuit breakers
- Troubleshooting operational failures of permanent magnet and self-excited generator sets (13kW to 4MW plus), generator control panels, battery chargers and associated equipment
- Installing, servicing, repairing and performing maintenance routines on multiple OEM generators, UPS, utility / emergency switchgear, automatic transfer switch and other power system products. This could include first-time (start-up) installations, coordinating with other systems being installed such as multiple generators sets and paralleling switchgear to ensure all related equipment work together properly as a system.
- Inspecting, testing and repairing low and medium, voltage power control systems and distribution switchboards
- Clearly and concisely documenting all work and repairs completed on the appropriate service reports in a timely manner
- A working knowledge of OSHA safety rules, laws and regulations concerning electrical and technical functions of various components and tooling procedures and capabilities
Qualifications
- 5+ years of commercial electrical experience with 13,200 voltage and 4,800 voltage
- Knowledge of electric power distribution installation, maintenance and repair terms and their meaning (e.g., primary, secondary, conductors, switches, etc.
- Expertise in Transmission, Generation, Distribution Operations, System Relay Protection and/or Station Mechanical Skills
- Technical knowledge of Electric Power Systems
- High voltage disconnect switches 4kV to 500kV, both single and gang-operated
- Voltage regulation, conversion and static var compensation
- NFPA 70 and Arc Flash training
- A technical degree in an electrical or mechanical field is preferable or equivalent work experience with electrical and mechanical systems
- Knowledge and professional work experience with Standard Operating Procedures, Pre-Job Briefs, Job Hazard Analysis and LOTO is required
- A safe and clean driving record. This position requires operating a company-issued service vehicle.
- CDL A w/ DOT Medical Card
- Works with management to enforce safety and security procedures
- Availability to work in a rapidly changing environment
- Flexibility to work overtime and off-shift hours to support company requirements
