Trainer - Machine Operator

Objective

Position works with sales representative on the delivery of new machines and customer satisfaction, demonstrating new machines to owners, training operators, and confirming new machine preparation prior to delivery; completes new machine Delivery Service Reports (DSR) for Caterpillar as well as following up on any delivery issues; handles machine operator training, safety and operating technique seminars.
 
Position Duties
  • Tracks new machine deliveries to customers and coordinates to schedule demonstrations and training sessions if needed.
  • Prepares and completes needed paperwork for machine records such as DSR’s.
  • Conducts machine operation demonstrations including features and benefits of the machine including technology and safety training with customers.
  • Schedules, prepares, and conducts Operating Techniques Seminars providing in-depth information to Owners and Operators regarding machine specifics, operating best practices, application techniques, grading techniques, machine, and operating safety, etc....
  • Stays on top of changes in equipment, product updates, new product introduction and technology changes as they pertain to equipment training and demonstration.
  • Must maintain certification on all Caterpillar machine types.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
Position Requirements
  • Centrally located in the State of Michigan.
    High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Detail oriented.
  • Knowledge of Past, Current and New equipment including changes in equipment, product updates, new product introduction and technology changes as they pertain to equipment training, demonstration, maintenance and safety.
  • Ability to speak to large groups of people including upper management and customers.
  • Mechanical aptitude and the ability to discuss components, capabilities and product features with large groups of people including upper managers and customers.
  • Strong communication skills both written and listening.
  • A team player possessing the ability to professionally work with customers, vendors, peers and co-workers as well as the ability to develop strong, long-term relationships.
  • Strong customer service skills and a thorough understanding of Quality and Turnaround principles.
  • A thorough knowledge of the Caterpillar product line, application and various applications.
  • Basic computer skills, including experience using Microsoft Office software, Caterpillar software packages, Main Frame Programs (Oak) and database programs.
  • Some travel and overnight stays required.
