CAT ThinkBig College Sponsorship Program   

 

Service Technicians are vital to Michigan CAT’s ongoing success.  In order to continue pursuing skilled Service Technicians, Michigan CAT has partnered with Owens Community College in Perrysburg, Ohio and Caterpillar Inc. to develop our CAT ThinkBig College Sponsorship Program for aspiring technicians.  Students pursue an Associate Degree of Applied Science (2 years) majoring in Diesel Technology from Owens Community College. 

 

This two-year program combines hands-on training and classroom education.  Students are assigned to one of our stores and participate in a paid, work experience for the Summer before college begins.  In the Fall, the Students begin their college education and, for the next two years, will continue to split each college semester between college and their paid, work experience. 

 

Michigan CAT provides tuition assistance for Students dependent on their academic performance each semester.  Graduated Students are required to be employed by Michigan CAT for a period of two years after their graduation. 

 

Upon successfully graduating from this Program, Students will be promoted to a full-time Service Trainee position.  They will receive a competitive hourly rate and benefits such as paid Vacation, company-paid healthcare premiums, 401k and pension.   

 

We are exceptionally proud of the success of our CAT ThinkBig College Sponsorship program.  The partnership between Michigan CAT, Owens Community College and Caterpillar, the high schools and technical centers and the participating students has provided us with the opportunity to acquire, educate, train and graduate some of the best Service Technicians in our company.
