Job Title:Request for Consideration- Police Officer, Data Integrity Unit (Office of Operations Management)

Dept/Div: MTA Police Department

Supervisor: Commanding Officer, Office of Internal Governance

Location: 420 Lexington Avenue, New York, NY 10170

Hours of Work: Four (4) consecutive tours of ten hours, 16 minutes (10:16)

 

Summary:

The MTAPD is seeking a dedicated and detail oriented MTAPD Police Officer to join the Data Integrity Unit. The position requires ensuring compliance with Department crime reporting standards, as well as managing external reporting to local, state, and federal agencies. Member selected to the position must maintain the highest level of integrity and confidentiality.

 

Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Provide administrative support to MTA Agencies.
  • Perform data entry on the MTAPD Intranet
  • Record Keeping
  • Prepare and deliver reports to the National Transportation Database
  • Ensure compliance with state reporting requirements and manage the issuance of necessary records to NYS and CT criminal justice agencies.
  • Maintain familiarity with and apply crime classification rules in all data reporting activities.
  • Independently manage crime data and records, ensuring accuracy and integrity.
  • Utilize Excel and/or Power BI to analyze data and create presentations.
  • Maintain knowledge of the National Incident-Based Reporting System (NIBRS) and apply it to relevant data reporting tasks.

Qualifications:

Qualified Candidates must, at a minimum, have the following qualifications/requirements to be considered for appointment.  Officers currently on probation are not eligible for consideration.

  • A minimum of (3) years of experience as a Police Officer with the MTA Police Department.
  • Knowledge of the NYS and CT Penal Law
  • Proficiency in preparing reports.
  • Highly motivated and organized.
  • Experience using Excel is preferred.
  • Experience using SQL is preferred.
  • Demonstrated understanding of Central Square RMS is preferred.
  • Education background in criminal justice, statistics, data science, public administration, or a related field preferred but not required.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong understanding of patrol operations and investigative procedures.
  • Ability to work independently and meet strict deadlines.
  • Comfortable working with command staff prior to and during CompStat meetings.

Other Information:

Interested employees who meet the above-listed qualifications will be invited to participate in a panel interview. Candidates should understand that they are not guaranteed an assignment in the Data Integrity Unit, even if they meet each of the above qualifications.

Candidates who have recent substantiated discipline/suspension or who have a documented history of lateness or are classified as “Doctor Certified or Chronic Sick” may be removed from interview consideration.
