Compensation
 Salary $125,001 – Level F – UTLO
This is a Compression Flat rate
 
Responsibilities
The selected candidate will manage staff and work as part of a team responsible for planning subway service for permanent operations, for long-term temporary operations for capital work and maintenance, and for special events and emergencies.
The position is responsible for:
  • Determining appropriate service designs and service frequencies for both permanent and temporary services, based on quantitative analysis of current and projected future passenger demand, operational factors, and current and projected infrastructure constraints
  • Analyzing available electronic and manual collected operational data to assess operational reliability and performance.
  • Evaluating and simulating train operations to determine current and projected capacities and running times and to inform the development of capital projects addressing infrastructure needs, including but not limited to signals, track, and traction power
  • Projecting car fleet requirements based on ridership and capacity analyses and assigning cars to lines and shops.
  • Coordinating the work of multiple groups within the agency to ensure smooth operational implementation and accurate public information and outreach.
  • Monitoring the impacts of the service plans and recommending and coordinating service adjustments as necessary.
 
Education and Experience
A bachelor’s degree in public administration, Economics, Urban Planning, Transportation Planning, Engineering or a closely related field; and five (5) years of full-time paid relevant experience of which two (2) years must be in a supervisory or managerial capacity; or
 
A satisfactory equivalent of education and experience.
 
Desired Skills
The ideal candidate will have
  • A combination of analytical, technical, planning, and communication skills
  • Excellent verbal, written and analytical skills are required
  • Proficiency in working with large datasets, spreadsheet analysis, and statistical analysis is required
  • Proficiency with SQL or similar database analysis languages is desirable
  • Experience and familiarity with transit planning practices and rail operations concepts is desirable
  • Knowledge of the New York City subway system and NYC geography and neighborhoods is desirable.
