Responsibilities
Capital Support & Planning is seeking qualified candidates to fill vacancies in the General Order Unit. The General Order Unit is a high pressure, evolving, seven day a week operation, responsible for the publication of General Orders, Service Diversions and Signal Bulletins to support Service Diversions throughout the system.
The selected candidate will be responsible for preparing, maintaining and distributing “A” and “B” Division General Orders, systemwide. The selected candidate will coordinate with Operations Planning, Field Operations, Construction & Development and MOW to ensure the safe and timely distribution of Service Diversions. The selected candidate will also be responsible for formulating Emergency Service Diversions and Action Plans such as, but not limited to, floods, track conditions, winter operations and any other emergency conditions.
Education and Experience
Candidates must have a minimum of one (1) year in the title of Train Service Supervisor. If you are selected for an interview, you will be subject to a skills assessment.
Desired Skills
- Flexibility to the needs of the unit relating to hours of work especially in emergency situations
- Knowledge of Excel, Word, Outlook, Paint and Adobe Acrobat
- Knowledge of “A” and “B” Track Schematics, Signal and Third Rail Diagrams
- General knowledge of Service Diversion and Planning Strategies
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to read and understand Service Plans distributed by Operations Planning
Selection Method
Based on evaluation of education, skills, experience and interview.
All appointments, with the exception of Department of Subways’ employees on MaBSTOA payroll, will be made on the NYCT payroll.
