POSITON SUMMARY:

The Senior Quality Control Specialist will support Field Quality Assurance and provide oversight to ensure the integrity, compliance, and quality of New Car field modifications and spare parts programs. The Specialist ensures all work meets approved technical standards for reliability, functionality, and completion verification on subway cars.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

This role includes conducting Field Modification Instructions (FMIs), performing database entries, participating in modifications, assisting in audits, and coordinating with MTA internal departments, outside vendors, and consultants to ensure the successful execution of railcar technology initiatives. The ideal candidate brings strong technical expertise, attention to detail, and a commitment to maintaining the highest quality standards across the transit fleet.

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  1. A baccalaureate degree in engineering, industrial technology, or a related field from an accredited college or university and six years of satisfactory full-time paid professional experience in quality control including the application of probability and statistics; statistical quality control; experiment design; planning; basic reliability concepts; quality data collection; quality auditing; and/or systems development with quality control programs; or 

 

  1. At least 60 semester credits from an accredited college or university or technical school with specialization in engineering technology or a related field and eight years of the experience described in "1" above; or 

 

  1. Education and/or experience equivalent to “1” or “2” above. However, all candidates must have at least 60 semester credits from an accredited college or university or technical school with specialization in engineering technology or a related field.

 

To be eligible for placement in assignment Level II, candidates must have served at least one year at Level I or must possess at least one additional year of qualifying experience.

 

To be eligible for placement in assignment Level III, candidates must have served at least one year at Level II or must possess at least two additional years of qualifying experience. 

 

DESIRED SKILLS:

  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and Access. 
  • Knowledge of railcar systems, transit maintenance practices, or related transportation/industrial equipment preferred

SELECTION METHOD

Based on evaluation of education, skills, experience, interview, and written assessment.

Final salary is determined experience, skillset, and alignment with compensation practices. The posted range reflects expected compensation and may be updated as market or business needs evolve.
