Position Title: Servers & Storage Technology & Engineer Fellow
Hourly Rate: $21.00 (Undergraduate)
All internship positions are onsite and require regular, in-person attendance at the designated work location.
OVERVIEW OF DEPARTMENT:
The MTA IT INF Server and Storage team manages the physical and virtual hardware and software used run various systems throughout all MTA agencies. Hardware includes HP, IBM and Dell servers; EMC and NetApp storage. We also serve as 2nd level technical support for any system running to platforms we support.
The IT Fellow will provide administrative and analytical support to the Inf team. Specific tasks would be performing data analysis, inventory and developing documentation to deliver better support outcomes. This position begins in Fall 2026; candidates should be ready to commit minimum of 12‑months in the role.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Check server inventory. Compared to information in Satellite, CMDB and SOGR spreadsheet.
- Verify server ownership / application relationship.
- Follow up on open ServiceNow tickets, incidents, changes.
- Assist server teams with hardware installs as needed.
- Interface with security teams to verify patches and protection agents are working correctly.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to improve work processes and deliver better customer service outcomes.
- Document department processes and protocol.
- Analyze data related to SOGR initiatives.
PROJECTS:
- Develop and implement at least one process improvement to server build consistency.
- Provide logistical support for the state of good repair project.
- Develop method to better integrate server owner with equipment.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite is a must.
- The candidate should possess organizational, analytical and communication skills.
- The candidate should be able to work well under pressure and prioritize tasks effectively.
- The candidate should have a keen eye for detail and be able to work independently while being an active team player.
REQUIRED EDUCATION:
- Matriculated in an undergraduate program in good standing with at least 2.5 GPA.
- Major(s) Preferred: Computer Information Systems, Information Science, Computer Information Technology, or related field.
