Job Title: Request for Consideration Police Officer, Right of Way Task Force

Dept/Div:Eastern/Southern Regions Command & Northern Region Command

Supervisor:Commanding Officer of Eastern/Southern Region &/or Commanding Officer Northern Region

Location:Eastern/Southern Regions & Northern Region

Hours:Four, 10:16 hour tours, with Friday, Saturday and Sunday or Saturday, Sunday, Monday as rest days.

 

Summary:

The MTA Police Department is seeking applications from qualified Members currently in the rank of Police Officer who are interested in being considered for assignment in the Right of Way Task Force.

 

Responsibilities:

Typical tasks that are performed in the Right of Way Task Force include but are not limited to:

Research patterns and trends affecting the ROW.

Recommend measures to mitigate risks along the ROW.

Collaborative efforts with MNR/LIRR to correct conditions of mutual concern.

Homeless Outreach and effort with other agencies.

Preparation and enactment of mitigation action plans.

 

Qualifications:

Interested members must possess the following qualifications/requirements to be considered for this position:

  • Have a minimum of five (5) years of experience within the MTA Police Department.
  • Working knowledge of the existing MTA Police Department Manual and applicable state laws.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Knowledge of Long Island Railroad and Staten Island Railway Territory.
  • Strong computer skills including, but not limited to, Microsoft Office.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Proficiency with Central Square.
  • Ability to work with others as a team.
  • Be self-motivated and goal-oriented and possess a good work ethic.
