The Track and Infrastructure Training Unit (part of Operations Training Division) provides induction training and skill development for current employees in the areas of Elevator & Escalator, Hydraulics, Heavy Equipment, Track Supervisor, Track Inspector and Track Safety.
 
The courses offered are curated to empower operating personnel to perform their duties in a safe, efficient and effective manner. The learning programs are developed in partnership with NYCT’s departmental management and other MTA agencies.
The position is open to current MTA/NYCT employees who have a permanent status in the title of Maintenance Supervisor I or II – Elevator & Escalator and Hydraulics
 
Responsibility:
This role is for a dynamic and enthusiastic supervisor looking for promotion, skill & leadership development and overtime opportunities.
 
  • Supervise and instruct hourly, supervisory & management employees in the classroom and field locations.
  • Develop and deliver training programs including, but not limited to: Elevator Doors, Basic Motor Control, Principles of Troubleshooting, and other required training.
  • Deliver presentations and facilitate computer-based training
  • Provide trouble shooting and technical assistance
  • Create and maintain training aids & mockups associated with elevator and escalator training equipment.
  • Evaluate student performance and maintain records.
  • Collaborate with department liaisons to coordinate & schedule training.
  • Research industry best practices and incorporates new & innovative delivery methods.
  • Perform administrative tasks and other duties as required to meet business needs.

Desired Skills:

  • Knowledge of elevator and escalator equipment function and maintenance
  • Create and follow lesson plans & present training materials in an effective manner.
  • Ability to communicate through verbal and written means
  • Coordinate with other training units to achieve training goals effectively.
  • Possess excellent writing and verbal communication skills
  • Provide input to update and revise learning materials / manuals.
  • Work to develop instructor and participant learning materials/manuals.
  • Ability to use resources effectively and adapt to changing conditions
  • Knowledge and experience of track safety and track flagging procedures as outlined in the NYCT Rules and Regulations manuals and rule books.
 
Maintenance Supervisor II (Elevator & Escalator) Salary Range:
1st Step – Entrance            $112,717
2nd Step – 7th Month         $114,313
3rd Step – 2nd Year            $118,338

Education and Experience:

Five years of full-time satisfactory experience in the maintenance department of a major railroad, maintaining and repairing multiple-unit rail cars, service cars, and locomotives; at least one year of this experience must have been in a supervisory capacity.

Based on evaluation of education, skills, experience and interview.
