Responsibilities
Leading a team of over 35 planners, the Deputy Chief of Bus Planning Oversees the development, evaluation, recommendation and implementation of all long- and short-term bus service revisions, including the recommendation and advancement of capital improvements associated with service revisions, across all 5 boroughs of New York City.
  • Collaborates closely with Bus Schedules, the Department of Buses, MTA leadership, Government and Community Relations, and the New York City Department of Transportation (NYC DOT) to successfully implement initiatives aimed at improving bus service for customers. 
  • Under the Bus Network Redesign initiative, directs efforts to create a modern bus network by applying transit planning principles, integrating customer and constituent input, and incorporating budgetary and operational constraints.  Provides analysis and justification for associated capital investments, including bus procurements.
  • Manages the planning, analysis, implementation and follow-up monitoring of city-wide bus service design and bus stop revisions; this includes service policy development in coordination with DOB, Strategic Customer Initiatives, MTA Bus Company, and the Office of Management & Budget. Prepares and conducts internal and external outreach for changes in staff summaries.
  • Coordinates with NYC DOT to develop and implement transit priority corridors and bus stop changes contracts.
Compensation
Salary Range - $129,713-$184,109 (Exec-1096)
 
Education and Experience
A Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college in Transportation Management Economics Systems Analysis Engineering or other Urban Planning and twelve (12) years of full-time, paid, related experience, with at least six (6) years in a managerial/supervisory/administrative capacity; or
A satisfactory equivalent of the combined education/experience requirements.
