 Responsibilities:
 
This position is responsible for the management and execution of a diverse budget operations within the Bus Schedules Division of Operations Planning. This role requires strong interpersonal skills and the flexibility to adapt quickly to changing tasks while maintaining core responsibilities and priorities.
 
The Assistant Budget Chief is responsible for working closely with the Deputy Chief of Bus Schedules to strategize, develop, and manage the department’s budget and financial plan.  The position’s primary responsibilities will include the following: Managing and executing all budgetary operations, including delivering the division’s platform budget and operating budget adjustments, analyzing annual operating budget requirements and performance throughout the pick cycle, and performing cost analyses and financial impact surveys for Bus Scheduling and Bus Planning initiatives. Develop mathematical tools and methodologies for scheduling practices which provide quick estimations on cost/savings for individual and system wide service change impacts.
 
Additionally, the position also is responsible for carrying out the following job functions, which many times, will require the incumbent to act as a liaison with various Divisions and Departments within NYCT and across the wider MTA organization:
The Office of Management and Budget to update estimating costs and procedures, reporting, and to align the operational goals of the department to the strategic plans of the MTA. 
The Department of Buses to formulate and implement strategies to improve service delivery, quality, efficiency, reliability, and maintenance.
 
The Assistant Budget Chief will advise all levels of management and supervision on appropriate timelines for service delivery and work in strict confidentiality with the Deputy Chief of Bus Schedules and the Office of the Chief of Operations Planning 
 
Compensation 
$102,762- $133,047 - OA-REP
 
Education and Experience  
A Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university with a major in Economics, Business Administration, Public Administration or a closely related field plus, four (4) year of full-time progressively responsible experience in the fields of budgeting or finance; or
A satisfactory equivalent of education and experience
 
Desired Skills
Excellent Oral and Written communications skills/ Strong ability to interact with internal/external customers.
At least 12 months of experience within the Department of Schedules, Operations Planning, or related office
Two (2) years - general accounting and financial reporting
Knowledge of NYCT rules and procedures
Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
Computer skills /Knowledge of MS Office Suite.
