Job Title: Request for Consideration – Lieutenant, Transit Operations
Dept/Div: MTA Police Department/ Transit Operations Division
Supervisor: Commanding Officer or Executive Officer, Transit Operations Division
Location: Various Locations
Hours: Three (3) tours of 12 hours, 20 minutes with four (4) consecutive rest days with a giveback day every third week
Summary:
The Department is seeking qualified Members from the rank of Lieutenant who are interested in being assigned to a position for the Transit Operations Division. The Lieutenant will be responsible for assisting with the Subway Safety Unit, Fare Evasion detail, SCOUT program, Homeless Outreach Conditions Unit and any other NYCT subway initiative. The Lieutenant will provide varied support to the Transit Operations Commanding Officer and Executive Officer.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure various weekly spreadsheets for the subway initiative are maintained.
- Oversee day-to-day operations, coordinate redeployments as necessary.
- Ensure student MetroCard confiscation sheets are maintained.
- Review and investigate use of force incidents, service-related injury, prisoner injury, and civilian complaints relative to the subway initiatives.
- Attend interagency meetings representing the department.
- Coordinate joint operations with outreach partners and outside police entities.
- Oversee plainclothes operations within the NYC subway system.
- Ensure compliance in the following: BWC random audits, completed central square reports, Kronos audits,
- Ensure weekly slides for Operations call are prepared.
- Perform data entry and audit records on the MTA PD Intranet
- Conduct GPS audits of marked and unmarked RMPs assigned to the division as necessary
- Provide administrative support and perform other duties as assigned for the Commanding Officer or Executive Officer.
Qualifications:
Qualified Lieutenants must, at a minimum, have the following qualifications/requirements to be considered for appointment.
- Prior Transit Operations experience as a supervisor with the MTA Police Department required.
- Minimum six (6) months Transit Operations experience preferred.
- Minimum of ten (10) years of police experience preferred.
- Experience as a Plainclothes Detail Supervisor required.
- Proficiency in preparing reports
- Highly motivated and organized
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Strong written and communication skills
- Be willing and able to attend meetings at the direction & discretion of the Commanding and Executive Officers
- Advanced communication skills including, but not limited to, being able to interact with transit agency representatives.
